HOLY SPIRIT GIFTS
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
1 Cor 12:7
There are three different stages of Holy Spirit reception: 1) When the Holy Spirit was poured on all mankind at Pentecost, 2) a gift of the Holy Spirit, 3) the sealing of the Holy Spirit, and 4) the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The following scriptures show the Holy Spirit Gift. The gift differing from the baptism of the Holy Spirit, (click to see Baptism references)
Peter... said , 'But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh:
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy'

- Below is the reference to the Sealing of the Holy Spirit.
Eph 1:12-13
So that we who first hoped in Christ live for the praise of His glory! In Him you also who have heard the Word of Truth, [the word of truth is not a book], the glad tidings (Gospel) of your salvation, and have believed in and adhered to and relied on Him, were stamped with the seal of the long-promised Holy Spirit.
This is to hear God [the word of truth] tell you, in whom you believed, the good news of your coming salvation. This scripture speaks of the interim reward of seeking; like when you hear the Lord say to you, "I have placed before you an open door which no one can shut," and when you receive a measure of his Spirit; the sealing, (or earnest deposit) of the true baptism to come.
Notice: 1) he says this sealing has been long-promised, long awaited, after you have first believed, and 2) you have heard from God himself of your coming salvation.
- 1 Corinthians 6:19
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.

The below references are to the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The true baptism of the Holy Spirit, the only one needed, circumcises the heart, by plunging down sin and iniquity, and puts off the body of death and sins of the flesh so that we are without sin; a baptism into the death of Christ.
- Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." The disciples had already received the Holy Spirit when Jesus breathed on them in item #1 above (John 20:22) and told them to go to Jerusalem and wait for power.
- Romans 6:4
We were buried therefore with Him by the baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious [power] of the Father, so we too might [habitually] live and behave in newness of life. This is the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
- 1 Corinthians 12:13
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
- Colossians 2:9-12
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Buried with him in baptism, [of the Holy Spirit of course] wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
You must have fellowship with Christ in his sufferings;
if you will reign with him, you must suffer with him;
if you will live with him, you must die with him;
and if you die with him, you must be buried with him;
and being buried with him in the true baptism, you also rise with him.
