John 16

16:1 "These things have I spoken to you, so that you will not be offended [and lose faith].

16:2 They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time is coming when whoever kills you will think that he is doing a service to God.

16:3 They will do all these things to you because they have not known the Father or me.

16:4 I have told you of these things so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. I did not tell of these at the beginning, because I was present with you.

16:5 But now I go my way to Him who sent me; and none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?'

16:6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is advantageous for you that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send him to you.

16:8 And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong [reprove] of sin, and righteousness, and judgment.1 [If a man will go to the Holy Spirit, to listen in silence, he will eventually hear — to learn all things and all truth.]

16:9 Of sin, because they do not believe in me. [As every man has his day of visitation from the Holy Spirit, they have heard the Lord's counsel and rejected it in disbelief; therefore they have continued in sin. When man goes to listen, the Holy Spirit shows a man the secret sins of his heart. The same grace that shows a man his sins, cleanses and purges the sins away.]

16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and you see me no more. [Jesus' righteousness is revealed to us by the Holy Spirit so that we will practice righteousness, just as Jesus practices it: let no man deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 1 John 3:7. Through the gospel, (which is revealed to man), the righteousness of God is revealed, from faith to faith.]

16:11 Of judgment, because the ruler of this world has been condemned. [The Spirit of Satan is in every man's heart, making man a slave to sin, until the Lord gradually purifies a man; and then upon his second appearance in your heart, when he brings salvation to those hoping and waiting for him, he bruises Satan under your feet, and slays him with the brightness of his coming. 2 Cor 4:6. Heb 9:28, Rom 16:20, 2 Thes 2:8 ]

16:12 I have many things yet to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

16:13 However when the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.2 For he shall not speak of himself, but he shall only speak what he hears; and he will show you things to come.

16:14 He shall glorify me; for he shall take from me what is mine, and shall show it to you.

16:15 All things that the Father has are mine; therefore I said, that he shall take of what is mine, and shall show it to you.

16:16 In a little while you will not see me; and then in a little while longer, you will see me, because I am going to the Father."

16:17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves, "What is this that he said to us, 'In a little while you will not see me; and then in a little while longer, you will see me, because I am going to the Father?'"

16:18 Therefore they said, "What does this mean, 'A little while?' We cannot understand what he has said."

16:19 Now Jesus knew that they were wanted to ask him, and said to them, "Do you inquire among yourselves of what I said, 'In a little while you will not see me; and then in a little while longer, you will see me?'

16:20 Truly, truly, I say to you that you shall weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

16:21 When a woman is in childbirth, she has grief, because her hour has come; but as soon as she has delivered her child, she does not remember the anguish, for joy of a child having been born into the world.

16:22 Therefore now you have grief; but I will see you again, and then your heart will rejoice, and no man will take this your joy from you.

16:23 When that time comes, you will have no questions for me. Truly, truly, I say to you that my Father will give you whatever you shall ask Him in my name.

16:24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name; now ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.

16:25 I have spoken these things to you in proverbs [vague language]; but the time is coming, when I shall no longer speak to you in proverbs [vague language], but I shall plainly tell you about the Father.

16:26 At that time you shall ask in my name; but I am not saying to you that I will [of necessity] then ask the Father on your behalf.

16:27 For the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came out from the Father.

16:28 I came forth from the Father, and have come into the world; again, now I am leaving the world to go to the Father."

16:29 Then his disciples said to him, "Lo, now you are speaking plainly, and do not speak in proverbs [vague language].

16:30 Now we are sure that you know all things,3 and there is no need for any of us to ask further questions; by this we believe that you came forth from God."

16:31 Then Jesus said to them, "Do you now believe?

16:32 Look, the hour comes. Yes, the hour has now come that you will be scattered, every man to his own home, and will leave me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

16:33 I have spoken these things to you so that in me you might have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer because I have overcome the world."

1 I will send him, (the Comforter), to you; and when he comes, he will prove the world wrong concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment. The Comforter is an additional measure of the Holy Spirit, given to those who obey. He convicts and convinces people of their sins, shows them the righteousness of Christ, which each must attain, and judges them.

Man and God are further apart in character than a rat is from a man. Man must first learn what a low beast he is; in the process he begins to understand how the whole world lies in wickedness because all men are subject to the Spirit of Satan. He is taught about and convicted for his sin. Then he begins to understand what the righteousness of God means: he will prove the world wrong about sin, and righteousness. Then he is judged at the conclusion of his spiritual journey.

Until the Spirit shows a man his sin, he cannot understand or recognize most of his sins. For the natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor 2:14. Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. Rom 1:19. So as in 16:8 above, the Holy Spirit shows man about sin, about Jesus, and judgment within a man; the soul's eyes must see, and the soul's ears must hear, to learn the things of God. The things of God are not learned by reading the Bible, nor listening to someone speaking, unless they speak from words supplied by the Spirit of God at that moment. Jesus said: There is only one thing needed. Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her - to sit at the feet of Jesus and hear his word. Luke 10:39-42. Hearing his voice and following him (obeying him) is critical to your future - critical to obtaining life: The words I speak to you are spirit and they are life. John 6:33.

2 when the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. So anyone who has been obeying the Lord's voice receives the Holy Spirit: the Holy Spirit is given to those who obey him. Acts 5:32. The Holy Spirit will also teach you all things: John 14:26. By the anointing of the Holy Spirit, a man is taught all things, and he needs no man to teach him. 1 John 2:27. So that with the anointing of the Holy Spirit, a man knows all things: you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 1 John 2:20. So do you, who claim to have been baptized by the Holy Spirit, know all things, or have you yet to hear and obey the Holy Spirit, so you can even be sealed by the Holy Spirit, a preliminary step to the baptism.

The beginning of knowing truth is to understand what a low beast a man is. Man has to be taught about sin, selfishness, lust, sexual immorality, lying, the evil tongue, and that the whole world lies in wickedness with every man controlled by the Spirit of Satan within them. Man then learns how Christendom has been totally taken over by Babylon. When he sees this, it makes him sad:

Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination, 'Hear the word of the LORD,' Because they have seduced my people saying, 'Peace!' when there is no peace. .. you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad, and have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that he does not return from his wicked way, by (falsely) promising him life.

When you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free; and if the Son makes you free, you are truly free. John 8:32,36. Freedom from sin — is salvation.

Said the Lord: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge because you have rejected knowledge, Hos 4:6.
Unless a man goes to wait silently on the Lord, he will never obtain knowledge of the truth to then become free.

The Spirit then reveals the countless mysteries of God and the heavens.

From the Word of the Lord within: "To know all truth is magnificent. When you see it, you will marvel."

3 Now we are sure that you know all things. And when the Holy Spirit is given to a follower of Jesus who obeys, this is the anointing, the Christ in your flesh, which teaches you all things, so that you know all things. 1 John 2:20,27, John 14:26, Tit 2:11-12.
