¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life. John is not speaking of seeing and hearing and handling with the physical senses the flesh person of Jesus Christ. He is speaking for all mature believers who see, hear, and handle the word of Life (the Spirit of Jesus Christ) in the Spirit. In the verses below he further explains this life, which is the Spirit of Jesus the word, John 1:1-4, 14:6, is shown to other believers, and that they all have a fellowship in the Spirit with the Father and Son and other believers in many locations.
