8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. [To be in darkness is to still be sinning; to be a child of the light is to have persistently believed in the light and followed the light, who is Christ. To walk in the light is to be guided in what to say and do. All men sit in darkness and walk in darkness until the light arises in their hearts. From the Word of the Lord within: "Walking in the light is to be guided through life by God; walking in darkness is making your own decisions as to what to do and say. Light comes from faith in the voice."]

9 For the fruit of the Light, in all goodness and righteousness and truth,

10 Proves what is acceptable to the Lord, [The light shows you what to do and what to say, but you must obey it; and you must be on your watch to avoid the temptation to enter into deeds of darkness. When you reach the 2nd stage of perfection, you will be protected from entering into deeds of darkness, which is sin.]

11 and [the light] has no share in unfruitful works of darkenss, but rather reproves [or refutes] them.
