Galatians 1

Next Chapter

 1 Paul, an apostle, (not from men, nor by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

 2 And all the brothers who are with me, to the churches of Galatia:

 3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

 4 Who gave himself for our sins, so that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of our God and Father;

 5 To whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

 6 I marvel that you are so quickly turning from Him who called you by the grace of Christ, to a different gospel.

 7 Not that there is any other [true gospel]; but there are some who are troubling you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach any other gospel to you than that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed [anathema, sentenced to eternal punishment.]

 9 As we said before, so I say again now: if any man preaches any gospel to you other than what you have received, let him be accursed.

 10 For now, am I trying to find favor with men, or God? Do I seek to please men? For if I were still seeking to please men, I would not be the servant of Christ.

 11 But I testify to you, brothers, that the gospel, which was preached by me, did not come from man.

 12 For neither did I receive it from a man, nor was I taught it, but rather through the revelation of Jesus Christ.1

 13 For you have heard of my conduct in time past in the Jewish religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and tried to destroy it.

 14 And how I excelled in the Jewish religion in my nation above many of my equals, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my forefathers.

 15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

 16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him2 among the heathen; I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood.

 17 Neither did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before I was; but I went into Arabia, and then returned again to Damascus.

 18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and stayed with him for fifteen days.

 19 But I did not see the rest of the apostles, except James, the Lord's brother.

 20 Now the things that I write to you, I assure you before God, I do not lie.

 21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;

 22 And was unknown by face to the churches of Judea which were in Christ.

 23 But they had only heard that he who persecuted us in times past, now preaches the faith that he once destroyed.

 24 And they glorified God in me.

1 But I testify to you, brothers, that the gospel, which was preached by me, did not come from man. For neither did I receive it from a man, nor was I taught it, but rather through the revelation of Jesus Christ. The gospel was preached to Paul by the Spirit of Jesus Christ through revelation. He did not learn it from man; he did not read about in a book; Christ preached it to him. If you continue in the faith, grounded and settled, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which you have heard, and which was preached in every creature under heaven; of which I, Paul, was made a minister. Col 1:23. What may be known of God only comes by revelation from the Spirit to you.

2 Jesus was revealed in Paul by God so that Paul could preach. This is the qualification of a true minister of Christ: to have the Son revealed in him before preaching. This is the personal experience of the Second Appearance of Jesus Christ, or the Return, or the 2nd Coming. Paul also said: Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. Col 1:13. And: I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. Gal 2:20. So here, Paul testifies to the Revelation (the second appearance) of Jesus Christ in him, being translated into the Kingdom, and Christ living in union with him; all the great promises, experienced by Paul while alive, and witnessed for our benefit.
