|Job 38 |
1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
2 "Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Gird up now your loins like a man; for I will demand of you, and you will answer me.
4 Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if you have understanding.
5 Who has laid the measures of it, if you know? Or who has stretched the line upon it?
6 Upon what are the foundations of it fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone;
7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
9 When I made the cloud the garment for it, and thick darkness a wrapping for it,
10 And decreed its boundaries, and set bars and doors,
12 Have you commanded the morning in all your days; and caused the dawn to know its place;
13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and shake the wicked out of it?
14 The earth takes shape like clay under a seal; and things stand out like a colored garment.
15 And from the wicked their light is withheld,1 and their upraised arm shall be broken.
16 Have you entered into the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in the recesses of the depths?
17 Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?
18 Have you perceived the breadth of the earth? Declare if you know it all.
19 Where is the way where light dwells [heaven]? And as for darkness, where is its place [Hell],
20 That you can take it to its boundary, and that you may know the paths to its house?
21 Do you know it because you were born then? Or because the number of your days is great?
22 Have you entered into the treasures of the snow? Or have you seen the treasures of the hail,
23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?2
24 By what way is the light spread, or how is the east wind scattered upon the earth?
25 Who has divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;
26 To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, in which there is no man;
27 To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender grass to spring forth?
28 Has the rain a father? Or who has begotten the drops of dew?
29 Out of whose womb came the ice? And the hoary frost of heaven, who has gendered it?
30 Frozen waters are as hard as a stone covering, and the face of the deep is frozen.
31 Can you bind the chains of Pleiades [cluster of stars], or loose the bands of Orion [the constellation]?
32 Can you bring forth constellations in their seasons? Or can you guide Arcturus [giant star] with his sons?
33 Do you know the ordinances of heaven? Can you set its dominion in the earth?
34 Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, so that an abundance of waters may cover you?
35 Can you send lightnings, that they may go and say to you, 'Here we are?'
36 Who has put wisdom in the hearts? Or who has given understanding to the mind?
37 Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the bottles of heaven,
38 When the dust hardens into clumps, and the clods cleave fast together?
39 Will you hunt the prey for the lion? Or fill the appetite of the young lions,
40 When they couch in their dens, and lie in wait in their lairs?
41 Who provides food for the raven, when its young ones cry to God, and wander for lack of food?

1 from the wicked their light is withheld. So although every man that comes into the world has the light of life, in a small measure, it is chained down by the selfish, Satanic spirit of man. And until man is changed by the power of God to be without sin, the light in great measure is withheld from man. To be truly enlightened, it is necessary to listen, hear, and obey the Lord's voice and word within your heart; and then the light comes, in which you: walk in the light as He is in the light, you have fellowship with others in the light (wherever they are), you are cleansed from all sin by the blood of Jesus, and you have fellowship in the Light with other saints and with the Father and the Son.
2 Snow and hail has been reserved by God for the day of battle and war. What day of war? The war against evil on the earth, as is described in Revelation; the war in which Satan and evil men are removed from the earth. Listen up! The Lord is telling us that there is a war and a battle coming: From the sky huge hailstones of about a fifty pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible. Rev 16:21. There is a day when the Lord will cause "a line to be drawn in the sand," and those who refuse to cross over to the right will be destroyed.
