12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world [every man]. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life."2 [The Light (Christ) is given to every man who comes into the world, John 1:9, so that through the Light, all men might believe, John 1:7; and by abiding in the Light and obeying the Light, receive salvation to become a child of the light, a son of God. To follow Jesus is to obey what He shows and speaks to you by revelation. If you do not keep or obey the words you hear Christ speak to you, those words will be your judge when you die. John 12:47-48. From the Word of the Lord within: "Obedience leads to restoration of life."]

12 But to all as have received him, those who believe in His name, He has given the right to become sons of God,6 [When you receive the Light and Word in your heart as Jesus speaking to you and revealing the things of God to you, you have received Him and identified Him as Jesus. From the Word of the Lord within: "When you are sure that he who is speaking to you is Christ, you have received Him. You are a son when Jesus appears in your heart to guide you."]

4 Or do you despise the riches of his goodness and tolerance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God is to lead you to repentance? [Heed! Jesus twice said: Repent or perish! Luke 13:3,13:5. To turn from evil is basic to seeking God; sin is transgression of the righteous law of God in every man's heart: love your neighbor as you love yourself; don't steal; don't commit adultery; don't lie; don't covet; don't murder; and honor your father and mother; to do for others what you would have them do for you. If you wait, watch, and listen for Him, grace will teach you what to deny, how to live a godly life, and then remove even the desire to sin from your heart.
