|Numbers 17 |
And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
"Speak to the children of Israel, and have them take a rod, one rod for each house of their fathers; from all their princes, according to their father's house, twelve rods total. Write the name of each prince of the house upon the rod of their family.
And you shall write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi, for one rod shall be for the head of each house of their fathers.
And you shall lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.
And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom; and I will make a stop to the me the grumblings that I hear from the children of Israel, by which they complain against you."
And Moses spoke to the children of Israel, and everyone of their princes each gave him a rod, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses, even twelve rods; and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness.
And it came to pass, that on the next day Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi had budded, had brought forth buds, had bloomed blossoms, and had yielded almonds.
And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD to all the children of Israel; and they looked, and each prince took his rod.
And the LORD said to Moses, "Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; by this you shall you shall completely stop their grumblings from my hearing, and so that they will not die."
And Moses did so; as the LORD commanded him, so did he.
And the children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, "Behold, we will all die, we will perish, we will all perish.
Whoever comes near to the tabernacle of the LORD, must die. Are we all to perish?"
