Psalms 120

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

1 In my distress I cried to the LORD, and he heard me.

2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

3 What shall be given to you? Or what shall be done to you, you false tongue?

4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.1

5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!

6 My soul has long dwelled with him that hates peace.

7 I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.

1 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper. These are the fiery darts (arrows with burning coals) of the demons: Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Eph 6:16. These mighty ones are the fallen angels, with great powers: to read a man's thoughts, to create a myriad of body pains and sensations, to create surrounding sounds, lighting, visions, voices, etc. The are in the parallel spiritual dimension of the Kingdom of Hell. One of their typical torture instruments is fiery darts, sent to all parts of your body, but often to your private parts, to create resentment, embarrassment, etc. So, every time a man commits some blunder in speech (a lie), thought, or action, they are watching and signal their condemnation of you by some physical phenomena. David says his soul has long dwelled with these mighty ones that only want war with him.
