Psalms 12

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

1 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceases to be; the faithful vanish from among the children of men.

2 Everyone speaks vanity to his neighbor; they speak with flattering lips and with a double heart.

3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, and the tongues that speaks proud boasting,

4 Who say, "we will prevail with our tongues; our lips are our own; who is lord over us?"1 [From the Word of the Lord within: "Every man was his own king. The King is where He is king. If all that profess me, would possess me."]

5 "Now I will arise, says the LORD, because of the oppression of the poor, because of the sighing of the needy; I will set him in the safety for which he yearns."

6 The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver tried in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.

7 You shall keep them, O LORD; you shall preserve them from this generation forever.

8 The wicked prowl on every side when vileness is exalted among the sons of men.

1 'we will prevail with our tongues; our lips are our own; who is lord over us?' From the Word of the Lord within: " Every man was his own king. The King is where He is king. If all that profess me, would possess me." Those who walk after the imagination of their own hearts are worse than those who worship stone and wooden idols. From Jer 16:11-12:

Because your fathers have forsaken me, says the Lord, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law; And you have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, everyone of you walks after the imagination of his evil heart, and therefore they do not listen for me.
