Psalms 64

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

 1 Hear my voice, O God, in my concern; preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

 2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked, from the plots of evildoers,

 3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows — bitter words;

 4 Who shoot in secret at the blameless; suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.1

 5 They encourage themselves in an evil plan, they talk privately of laying snares; they say, "Who will see us?"

 6 They search out injustice and say, "We have devised the perfect scheme." For both the inward thought and the heart of every one of them is cunning.

 7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly they shall be wounded.

 8 He shall make their own tongue turn against them; all who see them shall flee away.

 9 And all men shall [reverently] fear and shall declare the work of God, for they shall wisely consider what he has done.

 10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

1 They bend their bows to shoot their arrows — bitter words; who shoot in secret at the blameless; suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear. More of God's supernatural instruments to humble and break a man before receiving him with honor and spiritual riches.
