32 I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
3 I tell you, no. But unless you repent, all of you will also perish.1 [These times of ignorance God has overlooked; but now he commands all men everywhere to repent, Acts 17:30. For of this you can be sure, that no sexually immoral, or impure, or covetous person (who is an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Eph 5:5. Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. 1 Cor 15:34.]
5 I tell you, no. But unless you repent, all of you will also perish." [The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, ...but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Pet 3:9. From the Word of the Lord within: "Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, who stand forth without repentance!"]
21 For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, [The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked...Jer 17:9]
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lack of restraint, an evil eye [envy], blasphemy, pride, and foolishness. [..for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth...Gen 8:21]
23 All these evil things come from within a man, and defile him."3 [Every man's heart starts filled with evil, filled with sin, defiled, and disqualified for heaven. Unless your heart is cleansed and purified by the Lord's Spirit that destroys sin within man, every man walks according to the ways of the world and the god of this world, fulfilling their desires and lusts of their flesh according to their thoughts, according to their evil imagination, according to their carnal minds that are enmity against God and cannot be subject to the law of God. Every man is judged by their words and works, including those who claim to be Christians; God shows partiality to no man. From the word of the Lord within: "Only a heart that is purged of sin is acceptable to God. Everyone is expecting Jesus to be their excuse. If you are still sinning, you belong to sin and not to Me. See myself — thus no sin has a place in me. You are without excuse O man. Sin in believers is intolerable. The pure is innocent of all defilement." You can think you are a Christian and call Him "Lord," but if you die still sinning, you are banned from heaven. All defiled men are banned from heaven. When purified by grace, men are translated into heaven while on earth and then forever. To be freed of sin, even the desire to sin, you must obey the Lord's spoken commands that you expose yourself to hear, by waiting on Him in humble silence as you listen and watch; that is the one thing needed. Luke 10:39-42.]
43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed, than having two hands to go into Hell, into the fire that will never be quenched; [Jesus is emphatically telling us that Hell is horrible, and that if we wish to to escape Hell, sin has to go. He doesn't want us to maim ourselves. He wants us to come to Him so He can purify us and free us from all sin through obedient faith to the commands we hear Him speak to us as we wait on Him in humble silence.]
45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than having two feet to be cast into Hell, into the fire that will never be quenched;
47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out; it is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into Hell fire;3 [In Matthew 5:28-29 Jesus tells that even looking at a woman with lust is sin enough to lead us to Hell. If we are to escape Hell, while on earth we must be freed from even the desire of our sins. All men's hearts are defiled and must be purified by Jesus to enter the Kingdom of God while we are on earth.]
48 Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not put out. [What worm? The person in Hell quickly becomes aware that he is no better than a worm, which is a symbol of extreme lowliness; the Lord spoke of himself being considered nothing but a worm by the Jewish population of Jerusalem just before they demanded his crucifixion in mass.]
11 And she said, "No man, Lord." And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more."1 [Now many people cannot believe that Jesus meant "perfect" when he said, Be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect, Mat 5:48; but isn't Jesus saying the same thing when he says, sin no more?]
14 Afterwards Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, "Behold, you are made whole; sin no more for fear that something worse may happen to you."1 [Something worse is Hell. Jesus forgives our past sins, providing we are seeking His help to stop sinning altogether and to even have our desires to sin destroyed. He gives us serious warnings about continuing to sin; He tell us to sin no more; so He obviously has provided a way to comply, which is the inward cross of self-denial.]
30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, everyone according to his ways," says the Lord GOD. "Repent! And turn from all your transgressions, so iniquity will not be your ruin.
31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, by which you have transgressed; and get a new heart, a new mind, and a new spirit. For why will you die1, O house of Israel?
32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies," says the Lord GOD. "Therefore turn [from your evil ways] and live!"
|Revelation 3:3 |
3 Remember therefore what you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent.2 If you do not wake up and watch, I will come upon you like a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.
