Matthew 15:18-19

Display Chapter and Footnotes

18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile a man. [The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked...Jer 17:9...for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth...Gen 8:21]

19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies. [Every man's heart starts filled with evil, filled with sin, defiled, and disqualified for heaven. All defiled men are banned from heaven. Unless cleansed by the Lord's Spirit that destroys sin within man, every man walks according to the ways of the world and the god of this world, fulfilling their desires and lusts of their flesh according to their thoughts, according to their evil imagination, according to their carnal minds that are enmity against God and cannot be subject to the law of God. Every man is judged by their words and works, including those who claim to be Christians; God shows partiality to no man. From the word of the Lord within: "Only a heart that is purged of sin is acceptable to God. Everyone is expecting Jesus to be their excuse. If you are still sinning, you belong to sin and not to Me. See myself — thus no sin has a place in me. You are without excuse O man. Sin in believers is intolerable. The pure is innocent of all defilement." You can think you are a Christian and call Him "Lord," but if you die still sinning, you are banned from heaven. When purified by grace, men are translated into heaven while on earth and then forever. To be freed of sin, even the desire to sin, you must obey the Lord's spoken commands that you expose yourself to hear, by waiting on Him in humble silence as you listen and watch; that is the one thing needed. Luke 10:39-42.]

9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?1 [Since the fall of Adam out of fellowship with God and out of paradise, every man's heart from his youth is filled with selfishness, with sin, with evil: covetousness, (wanting more, which is idolatry); sexual immorality; lust; pride; anger; envy; etc. We are a fallen race with defiled hearts, disqualified for heaven. Only by denying ourselves, waiting on the Lord, and obeying Him, (which is to follow Jesus), do we have any hope of reconciliation with God and entering heaven when we die.]

12 And you have done worse than your fathers; for behold, every one of you walks after the imagination of his evil heart and mind, and therefore you do not listen to and obey me.1 [Until cleansed by the Lord, every man's heart and mind is full of evil. From the Word of the Lord within: "As many as are at their savior's feet, there are six things I will put in order in front of your eyes:

  1. how evil proceeds out of the heart,
  2. and goes forth out of the mouth.
  3. how your heart longs for evil.
  4. how your feet are swift to run to evil.
  5. how your heart builds a strong tower as a bulwark of defense.
  6. how your heart is a mirror of the world; (the whole world lies in wickedness)."
We must persistently listen and obey completely to be cleansed.]

27 And in no way shall there enter into it [heaven] anything that is defiled, nor anyone who does abominations, or lies; but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life. ["And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called 'The way of holiness.' The unclean shall not pass over it." Isa 35:8. "Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city. For from this time forward the uncircumcised and the unclean shall no more come into you." Isa 52:1 All men are unclean, uncircumcised, and defiled until their sinful, selfish, evil nature within them is destroyed and crucified through the inward cross of self-denial. From the Word of the Lord within: "The pure is innocent of all defilement."]

2 Corinthians 5:10

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; so that everyone may receive what is due him, according to what he has done in the body, whether it is good or bad.3 [From the word of the Lord within: "Everyone is expecting Jesus to be their excuse. All men are without excuse; if I were silent, they would have an excuse. I've warned them and given them the requirements and preached the exclusions; they should not expect anything else or conclusion. No man is promoted or excused that repeats sin. You are without excuse O man. People must stand the price for their very brazen behavior. The way is clear: listen and obey. There are two things I hate: pride and an excuse for failure."]

Hebrews 7:26

26 For it was appropriate for us to have such a high priest [Jesus], who is holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners2, and made higher than the heavens. [From the Word of the Lord within: "See myself — thus no sin has a place in me." If Jesus joined in union with one still sinning and defiled, everyone in His body, including Jesus Himself, would be defiled. Sin has to go before you can partake of the divine nature.]
