1 "Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters, and he who has no money, come, buy and eat; yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? And your hard-earned money for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance.1 [Note! To listen is to eat the bread of life, who is Jesus; his words that he speaks to you impart the life of God.]
3 Incline your ear, and come to me. Hear, and your soul shall live;2 and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies promised to David. [To come to Him, we go directly to Him, by sitting in humble silence as we wait on Him, listening for His voiced commands and teachings. From the Word of the Lord within: "We go to him, and he rains help on us; well does this exercise of God purify those who do. Come to me with the hope of speaking and acting righteously."]
27 Do not labor for food that perishes, but [instead labor] for the food that endures to everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give to you; for God the Father has authorized and certified him with his seal." [To labor is to work hard. What is the hard work you must do that endure to everlasting life?—to daily, persistently and patiently expose yourself to hearing Christ speak his commands and teachings to you, by sitting, waiting on God, listening, watching, hearing, believing, and obeying; that is the one thing needed and the only works which survive the fire that everyone must pass through. This is part of the cross that you must daily bear, denying your own will, and obeying the will of God instead.]
48 I am the Bread of Life.
50 But this is the Bread that came down from heaven, so that a man may eat of it, and not die.
51 I am the Living Bread that has come down from heaven. If any man eats of this Bread, he shall live forever; the Bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."
63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life-giving.6 [Jesus is the bread of life: the life of God. From the Word of the Lord within: " The words I speak to you impart life; the Spirit gives life with every word heard." To acquire more of Jesus, (the life), you must get quiet, wait on Him, listen, hear His words that he speaks to you, and then obey what He commands. His words that he speaks to us impart the life of God to us and are engrafted into our hearts; and since Jesus is the life of God, His spoken words form Jesus within us, until finally He is resurrected in us to be our true Lord, ruling our thoughts, words, and deeds.]
40 But you will not come to me, so that you might have life.6 [Jesus has just told us in this and the above verse that studying the Bible is not coming to Him so that you might have eternal life. Come — not to sect services, not to prayer meetings, not to the Bible, not to altar calls — but come directly to him, by sitting and waiting on him in humble silence, to watch, to listen, and hear His words he speaks to you that impart the of life of God to you as His words are engrafted into your heart. John 6:63, James 1:21. Each word you hear Him speak to you increases the life of God in you; each word you hear Him speak to you purifies you a little more. With sufficient measure of His spoken words heard from within your heart, He is formed in you so that you see Him and experience Him bringing your salvation and eternal life. From the Word of the Lord within: "Obedience leads to restoration of life."]
|Matthew 4:4,6:11 |
4 But he answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'" [To have life in God, all men must hear God speak to them and live by his words, which are spirit and impart life. John 6:63.]
11 Give us this day our daily bread. [Jesus said: "Do not labor for food that perishes, but for the food that endures to everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give to you. I am the bread of life, the bread from heaven. For it is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life-giving. John 6:63." Your daily bread is to quietly listen and hear the Lord speak words to you with encouragement, teachings, convictions, and commands. Blessed are those who hear the word of God [within your heart] and keep [practice, obey] it. Luke 11:28. You must listen — hear, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21. All your holy ones are in your power. And they sit at your feet, each receiving your words. Deu 33:3]
