|1 Peter 2:12|
12 Keeping your conduct honest among the Gentiles, so that although they may speak against you as evildoers, they may by seeing your good works, glorify God in the day of visitation.
20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief; but he was strong in faith, giving glory to God; [He was strong in faith as evidenced by his belief in the promise and his obedience to Gods' commands that he heard spoken to him. If he had not walked in the steps of faith, being obedient as commanded, his righteousness would have been cancelled. So too must a Christian be strong in obedient faith, obeying the commands of the Lord that he hears spoken to him; and he must seek the righteousness of God as the highest priority in his life: But seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; Mat 6:33.]
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. [When you have been delivered (freed) from the sins and evil in your heart, God's light will shine forth in your heart, to guide your thoughts, words, and works. God makes us a fit instrument for his hand to direct in works of love, to show the world the love of God, to shake the nations, and to hold out the word of life. God's works are performed by his people with joy, knowing all their words and deeds are perfect and virtuous, which bring honor and glory to God, and which shows true righteousness. The purpose of becoming a Christian is to do works according to the will of God: so that thy will be done on earth as it is done in heaven. Mat 6:10]
6 That you may with one mind in one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. [To be of one mind and one mouth, Christ is in total control of their minds and all words spoken. All are in unity of the Spirit, with the mind of Christ; their old minds having been destroyed by His grace. From the Word of the Lord within: "We stand in the presence of God speaking forth His words as commanded. We stand before Him that we might glorify Him."]
8 When you bear (produce or bring forth) much fruit, my Father is honored and glorified, and you show that you are truly my disciples [true followers].2 [The fruit that this verse references is the fruit of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace (quietness and confident trust forever), patience (including longsuffering, steadfastness, and perseverance), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, (including meekness and humility), and self-control (mastery of sensual appetites, desires, and passions). Gal 5:22-23. Everyone who does not produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit in this life is thrown into the fire, like branches on a tree are pruned and thrown into the fire. This is the test of a true disciple or follower of Jesus: to produce fruit; and when a true follower produces fruit, the Father is honored and glorified! I ask you, "have ever heard of a more worthy goal than to bring honor and glory to your creator?"]
|Romans 15:16 |
16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
