8 I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it; for you have a little strength, and have kept my word, and have not denied my name. [Notice again! Jesus is referencing their works, which are works of loving obedience to the commands you hear spoken from God in your heart, which works are energized by faith and are essential. When Paul said, "not by works," he was speaking of dead works, (from your own will), from the law: circumcision, washings, sacrifices, special foods, sabbath restrictions, days, feasts, tithing, etc.]
10 Because you have kept my word with patient endurance,4 I also will keep you from the hour of temptation, which will come upon all the world, to try those who dwell upon the earth.
23 And the LORD said to Moses, "Has the LORD's hand grown short? You shall see now whether my word shall come to pass to you or not."
24 "Aaron shall be gathered to his people. He shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel because you rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.
11 So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth. It shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
2 For all these things my hand has made, and so they have come into being," says the LORD. "But this is the man I will look on [favorably]: he who is of a humble and contrite spirit, and trembles at my word.
12 Then says the Lord to me, "You have seen well for I am watching over my word to perform it."
14 Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts, "Because the people say these words, behold, I will make my words in your [Jeremiah's] mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts [and schemes] because they have not heeded my words, nor my law, but have rejected it.
28 The prophet who has a dream, let him tell it as a dream; and he that has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat?" says the Lord. [Notice! The Lord has likened dreams to be chaff, but his word to be wheat. Do not depend on dreams in the least.]
29 "Is not my word like a fire?" says the Lord; "and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?3 [His Word is Christ, the Word of God, the power of God. Hearing him speaking to you in your heart and then obeying the word of the Lord, results in the burning of the sin within you and a hammering down of that sinful nature.]

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you continue in my word [not the Bible, but teachings and commands heard from Jesus speaking directly to you], then you are truly my disciples; [If you continue to wait, watch, and listen to Jesus, who is the word and light within your heart, you are a true disciple, who will produce the fruit of the Spirit, who will be guided into all truth, and then who will have become free of all sin.]
37 I know that you are Abraham's descendants; but you seek to kill me, because my word [teachings heard] has no place in you.
43 Why do you not understand my speech? Because you cannot hear [with the ears of your soul] my word [spoken from the Spirit of God].
