17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him,5 that we may be glorified together. [Therefore, since Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same mind because he who has suffered in the flesh is finished with sin, so that you should not live the rest of your time in the flesh in the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 1 Pet 4:1-2. Part of the inward cross is inward suffering, which the Lord will lead you through, when he deems your faith sufficient to survive the tribulation.]
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. [To be led by the Spirit of God is to hear and obey his word from within your heart ordering all words to be spoken and all your deeds to be done. To be led is to walk in love, fulfilling the law. This only occurs after you have crucified your sinful nature on the inward cross of self-denial to then receive the fruit of the Spirit. If you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Gal 5:19. From the Word of the Lord within: "You are a son when Jesus appears in your heart to guide you. A perfect man hears what to do — a time of great joy."]
5 And you have forgotten the exhortation that speaks to you as to children, "My son, do not despise the chastening [correcting rebuke and discipline] of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked by him.
6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and scourges every son whom he accepts."4 [The pain of a wound cleanses away evil, so do stripes purge the inward parts [including the heart] of man, Pro 20:30.]
7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom the father does not chasten?
8 But if you are without chastisement [correcting rebuke and discipline], of which all [true sons of God] must share, then you are illegitimate,5 and not sons. [He who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin. So that you should not live the rest of your time in the flesh in the lusts of men, but [live according] to the will of God. 1 Pet 4:1-2.]
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, continue to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.1 [From the Word of the Lord within: "Salvation is to be delivered from sin. Salvation is being freed from even the desire of your sins." In His messages to the seven churches, Jesus mentions to every church, (all seven), how their works are key. Jesus said, I have not found your works perfect before God. Rev 3:2-3. Jesus wants perfect works.]
13 For it is God who brings forth in you, both the will (to work) and the works (as commanded), according to his good pleasure. [A true Christian is crucified and purified by the grace of God, able to do God's will on earth as it is done in heaven; that is a true Christian's sole purpose: to pray, to speak, and to act as God directs, thus to bring pleasure, honor, and glory to God.]
14 Do all things without grumbling and disputing;
15 So that you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world;
|1 John 3:2-3|
2 Beloved, now we are to be sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we will be, but we know that when He is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. [A Son of God is like Jesus, who is holy, harmless, pure, separate from sinners, and with no sin in Him; and when we see Him, we will be like Him. Jesus appears in the hearts of purified believers. Jesus is seen. Jesus is revealed. He who has been hidden is revealed, Christ in you, the hope of glory. From the Word of the Lord within: "You are a son when Jesus appears in your heart to guide you." Then you are like Him: holy, harmless, pure, without any sin.]
3 And every man who has this hope in him purifies himself, even as He [Jesus] is pure.2 [What hope?—The hope of being like Him and of seeing Jesus appear in your heart is the hope that saves and purifies you; for we are saved by hope. Rom 24. You must have this hope for the power of God to be released to purify you. For of this you can be sure, that no sexually immoral, or impure, or covetous person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Eph 5:5. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God, Mat 5:8. — Christ in you, the hope of glory.]
|1 Thessalonians 5:5,8 |
5 You are all the children of light to be, and children of the day to be;1 we are not to be of the night, nor of darkness. [From the Word of the Lord within: "You are a son when Jesus appears in your heart to guide you. I stand with those freed from sin."]
8 But let us, who are to be of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.2 [These believers were still hoping for salvation to come; salvation is to be freed from all sin.]
