Matthew 10:28

Display Chapter and Footnotes

28 And do not fear those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.1 [From the Word of the Lord within: "No soul is immortal apart from me." There is no permanent soul of man, unless that man unites in union with Christ and the Father; those who fail to do so while on earth, will lose their soul. The beginning of the fear of God is to depart from evil. From the Word of the Lord within: "Fear God and give Him the glory. To fear is to depart from evil."]

Luke 9:24-25

24 For whoever desires to save his life shall lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. [When you continually deny yourself and obey the Lord's commands, you will eventually die to your selfish life on the inward cross of self-denial, and thereby save your soul to live Life in union with God.]

25 For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the whole world and loses himself [his soul] or is cast away [into outer darkness]?1

Luke 21:19

19 By your firm and patient endurance do you [possess] attain the true Life of your souls.2 [For salvation, (to save your soul), you must patiently endure in waiting, tribulations, suffering, and obedience in order to mortify and crucify your sinful nature on the inward cross of self-denial. From the Word of the Lord within: "To endure on the cross is dying. Salvation comes to those who heed and obey. Salvation comes to those who wait. Be like the early Church, who for inexpressible joy endured to the end."]
