31 But those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.2
4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by ear, nor has the eye seen a God beside you, who acts for the one who waits for him.1 [Paul quotes this scripture in 1 Corinthians: "Man's eye has not seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, the things that God has prepared for those who love him." The key difference: Isaiah reads waits, 1 Cor 2:9 reads love. So to love God is to wait on Him: we wait on Him to hear His words that teach us, convict us, encourage us, and guide us — that is loving God.]
9 And it will be said in that day, "Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation."3
18 Therefore the LORD will wait, so that he may be gracious to you; and he will be exalted, so that he may have mercy on you. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.3
23 And kings shall be your nursing fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They shall bow down to you with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of your feet; and you will know that I am the LORD, for they shall not be ashamed who wait for me."
8 Yes, we have waited for you in the way of your judgments, O LORD; the desire of our soul is for your name, and for the remembrance of you.
2 O LORD, be gracious to us; we have waited for you. Be our arm every morning, our salvation in the time of trouble.
17 And I will wait upon the LORD, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob. I will look [wait and hope for] him.
34 Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. [From the Word of the Lord within: "Without our promises the soul is grieved; with them the soul settles down to a vigilant tribute to the Lord." To wait and watch is a tribute to the Lord; a tribute is something that you do to show that you respect and admire someone or something. To show respect and admiration for God by waiting and watching for Him is the beginning of love of God.]
22 Do not say, I will recompense evil [revenge]; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save you.
6 Therefore return to your God; keep mercy and justice and wait on your God continually. [To wait on God is to persistently sit in humble silence, listen for his voice and words, watch for his revelations, hear his commands, and then obey Him; only those who heed and obey Him receive eternal salvation. Heb 5:9]
25 The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. [To wait on God is to seek. To wait on God is to persistently sit in humble silence, listen for his voice and words, watch for his revelations, hear his commands, and then obey Him; only those who heed and obey Him receive eternal salvation. Heb 5:9. He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Heb 11:6.]
7 Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait upon the LORD shall inherit the earth. [Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Mat 5:5. Blessed are those who have been changed by the Spirit of God to become humble, gentle, and in control of their emotions, for they shall inherit a new earth; for by your persistent and patient waiting on the Lord, He changes you to become meek with great self-control. From the word of the Lord within: "Those who wait on the Lord shall inherit a new earth."]
24 Be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart, all you who wait for, hope for, and expect the LORD.
22 Let your mercy, O LORD, be upon us, in proportion to our waiting and hoping on you.1
1 Truly my soul silently waits upon God; from him comes my salvation.1 [David waited upon God in silence, and so should we. Silence is humble; silence enables us to hear his soft voice. We wait on God to attain salvation. “I have waited for your salvation, O LORD.” Gen 49:18. “Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.” Mic 7:7. ““Lo! This is our God, we have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” Isa 25:9]
14 Wait, and hope for, and expect the LORD! Be of good courage and let your heart be confident! Wait, I say, on the LORD!
7 And now, Lord, what do I wait for? You are my only hope. [From the Word of the Lord within: "You must wait on the Lord to receive salvation. Wait for, hope for, the Lord. Let Your mercy be in proportion to our waiting and hoping on You. If we go to him, and we wait on him, he comes. We need to get quiet and ready to listen. In humble silence we sit and wait. Patiently we wait in humble silence. Patiently and assiduously we wait. As we wait, we hope. We go to him, and he rains help on us; well does this exercise of God purify those who do. Listen, heed, and obey — the word is near thee."]
7 Be still and rest in the LORD; wait patiently for him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
34 Wait on the LORD and keep his way, and he shall exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined to me and heard my cry.
|Psalms 123:2,130:5,6,3:20,5:3,38:15 |
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden to the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until he has mercy upon us.
5 I wait for the LORD; my soul waits, and I hope in his word [that I will hear].
6 My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning; I say, more than those who watch for the morning.
3 You hear my voice in the morning, O LORD; I will direct my prayer to you in the morning, and wait and watch.
15 For in you, O LORD, do I hope and wait. You will respond, O Lord my God.
