1 Chronicles 16

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

 1 So they brought the ark of God and set it in the midst of the tent, which David had pitched for it, and then they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings to God.

 2 When David had ended the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.

 3 And he dealt to everyone of Israel, both men and women, a loaf of bread, a good piece of meat, and a flagon of wine.

 4 And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:

 5 Asaph was the chief priest, and next to him were Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, and Obededom; Jeiel was assigned to the psalteries and harps; Asaph played the cymbals;

 6 And the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel sounded trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

 7 Then on that day David delivered his first psalm of thanks to God to Asaph and his brothers, which was as follows:

 8 Give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

 9 Sing to him, sing psalms to him, talk you of all his wondrous works.

 10 Glory in his holy name; let the heart of them rejoice who seek the LORD.

 11 Seek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face, to be in His presence continually!1 [Turn inward to seek God for what may be known of God is revealed in them, Rom 1:19. God and Christ are only known by revelation. Mat 11:27. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Mat 5:8. And every man who has this hope in him purifies himself, even as He [Jesus] is pure. John 3:3. From the Word of the Lord within: "We stand in His presence; in the kingdom we stand before God and His holy angels; we behold His beauty. We stand in the presence of God speaking forth His words as commanded. A perfect man hears what to do — a time of great joy."]

 12 Remember his marvelous works that he has done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

 13 O you seed of Israel his servant, you children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

 14 He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

 15 Always remember his covenant, which by his word he commanded to a thousand generations;

 16 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and of by his oath to Isaac;

 17 And has confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

 18 Saying, "Unto you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;

 19 When you were only few, a very few, and you were strangers in it;

 20 When they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people;

 21 He allowed no man to do them wrong: yes, he reproved kings for their sakes,

 22 Saying, 'Do not touch my anointed, and do my prophets no harm.'"

 23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth; show forth from day today his salvation.

 24 Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvelous works among all nations.

 25 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he also is to be feared above all gods.

 26 For all the gods of the people are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.

 27 Glory and honor are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.

 28 Give to the LORD, you kindred of the people, give to the LORD glory and strength.

 29 Give to the LORD the glory due to his name. Bring an offering, and come before him. Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

 30 Fear before him, all the earth; the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.

 31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let men say among the nations, "The LORD reigns."

 32 Let the sea roar, as well as its fullness [praise]; let the fields rejoice, and all that is in it.

 33 Then shall the trees of the forest sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he comes to judge the earth.

 34 O give thanks to the LORD for he is good and his mercy endures forever.

 35 And say, "Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise.

 36 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel forever and ever." And all the people said, "Amen," and praised the LORD.

 37 So he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required;

 38 From Obededom were assigned sixty eight brothers with the sons of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters;

 39 And Zadok the priest, and his brothers the priests, were all left before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,

 40 To offer burnt offerings to the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel;

 41 And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endures forever;

 42 And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

 43 And all the people departed every man to his house; and David returned to bless his house.

1 Seek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face, to be in His presence continually! This is a very strong command with two wonderful, but forgotten, promises: 1) to be able to see the face of God, and 2) to be in his presence continually.

  1. to be able to see the face of God,
    For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6.
    When You said, “Seek My face,”My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.” Psa 27:8.
    And I — in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness. Psa 17:15.
    But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor 3:18.

  2. to be in his presence continually.
    I do not pray that you should take them out of the world, John 17:15.
    I will that they also, whom you have given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which you have given me. John 17:24.

    truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3.
    And [he] has raised us up together [with Christ], and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Eph 2:6.
    that they may be one, even as we are one. I in them, and you in me, that they may be made perfect in one. John 17:22-23.

Babylon does not want anyone to know of these promises, much less attain them. And so, those saints who have secured these promises were destroyed by the false church of Babylon:

And upon her forehead was a name written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus; and when I saw her, I wondered with great amazement. Rev 17:5-6.
