1 Corinthians 16:1-2 Display Chapter and Footnotes ¹ Now concerning the collection¹ for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you do also: ² Upon the first day of the week² let every one of you set aside something, as God has prospered him, so that no collection will have to be taken when I come. ² Mark! In 1 Cor 16:1-2, the collection was taken on the first day of the week, not on the Jewish Sabbath. This proves that early Church did not meet on the Jewish 7th Day Sabbath, but met on the first day of the week. John referred to the Lord's day in Rev 1:10, "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day," thought to give importance to the first day by referencing the day of the week that the Lord was resurrected.
