|1 Corinthians 1:20-23 |
Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know God, it pleased God by the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. [The wise of the world, including Christianity, considers the message and hope of the true gospel attained by repentance while bearing the cross to be foolishness, superfluous, and useless; the wise of the world are perishing.]
For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom.
But we preach Christ crucified, which has been a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Greeks.
