2 Peter 1:5-6 Display Chapter and Footnotes   5 For this very reason, make every effort [the maximum possible],2 to add to your faith, virtue [excellence]; and to virtue knowledge; [How do you add to your faith? You sit and wait on God, listening, watching, and then obeying. His spoken words heard impart the life of God into your heart, John 6:63. You grow in faith with each revelation received. By the grace of His revelations Jesus authors your faith and increases your faith in the progression of these verses. From the Word of the Lord within: "I must warn you — you must make every effort to add to your faith and enter the rest."] 6 And to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance [or patience]; and to perseverance, godliness; |
2 Make every effort, to add to your faith.. How is faith increased? Faith is increased with every revelation you receive, whether the revelation is words spoken to you, or the light of the word revealing your condition and the mysteries of God. From the Word of the Lord within: "Faith is a series of revelations." You sit and wait on God, listening, watching, and then obeying. His spoken words heard impart the life of God into your heart, John 6:63. You grow in faith with each revelation received. By the grace of His revelations Jesus authors your faith, increases your faith, and finally perfects your faith, Heb 12:2, until you attain salvation, (freedom from sin), and later union with Christ and God.
From the Word of the Lord within:"What is the evidence of your belief? — operational faith. Faith is to hear the Word of God and obey."
Mark! Every effort means your maximum possible effort. You must seek God with your whole heart and soul! You must make every effort to add to your faith, to arrive at salvation. Strive to enter in at the strait gate; for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and will not be able, Mat 7:13-14,Luke 13:23-24. I hope you are beginning to see how insidious the false gospel of grace is, telling you that you need to do nothing but believe, saved by faith with no works of obedience; even warning people not to do any obedient works, or they will lose their supposed salvation. Could there be a more evil lie created? Belief is the beginning of the journey, not the end, which Paul ten times emphasizes:
And Peter echoes the same message that salvation is not just believing or faith, rather salvation is the end of faith's obedient journey and requires growth:
Who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
In that greatly rejoice though it is necessary to suffer a few griefs through various trials,
so that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes,
though it is tried with fire, might result in praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
Though you have not seen him, you love him; though you do not see him now,
but believe in him, you rejoice with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory,
Receiving the end of your faith — the salvation of your souls. 1 Pet 1:5-9
As newborn babies, desire the sincere milk of the word, so that you may grow up to salvation. 1 Pet 2:2
Peter also tells us of the journey's end: Hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 1 Pet 1:13.He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Heb 11:6. (Diligence — continually attending to and striving to achieve a goal; laborious; persevering.)
The ministers of the deficit sects tell their members that they are righteous, even while they are still sinning, sin being wickedness.
He who says to the wicked, 'You are righteous;' him will the people curse, nations will abhor him. Pro 24:24
All the pastors and ministers will be cursed, who lied, saying that with belief in Jesus, you are righteous while still locked in sin.
In effect, the ministers of today tell their members: don't seek, don't obey, don't fear, don't strive -
saying there is no need, because of grace, your supposed license for immorality and excuse for remaining in sin.
Yet Paul instructed ministers thus: "Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear." 1 Tim 5:20.
Paul also pleaded for repentance: remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears._______________________________________
