2 Chronicles 3

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem on mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to David his father, in the place that David had prepared [for sacrifice to stem the plague] on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

2 He began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.

3 Now these are the things in which Solomon was instructed for the building of the temple of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was ninety feet, and the width was thirty feet.

4 The porch that was in the front of the temple, the length of it was according to the width of the temple, thirty feet, and the height was one hundred eighty feet; and he overlaid it within with pure gold.

5 He ceiled the main room of the temple with fir wood, which he overlaid with fine gold, and then engraved palm trees and chains on it .

6 He adorned the temple with precious stones for beauty; and the gold was gold from Parvaim.

7 He overlaid also the house, the beams, the posts, its walls, and its doors with gold; and he engraved cherubim on the walls.

8 He made the Most Holy House with the length according to the width of the house, thirty feet; and its width was thirty feet. He overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.

9 The weight of the nails used was fifty shekels of gold. He also overlaid the upper chambers with gold.

10 In the Most Holy House he made two sculptured images of cherubim and overlaid them with gold.

11 The wings of the cherubim were thirty feet long. One wing of the first cherub was 7.5 ft wide, reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was also 7.5 ft. wide, touching the wing of the second cherub.

12 Likewise, one wing of the second cherub was 7.5 ft. wide reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was also 7.5 ft. wide, joining to the wing of the first cherub.

13 The wings of these cherubim spread out for thirty feet, and they stood on their feet with their faces were turned inward.

14 He made the veil of blue, purple, and crimson fine linen; and created cherubim on it.

15 In front of the temple he made two pillars forty eight feet high, and the capital that was on the top of each of them was 7.5 ft.

16 He made chains, like a necklace, and put them on the tops of the pillars; he then put on the chains one hundred pomegranates, which he had made.

17 And he raised up the pillars in front of the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of the on the right Jachin, and the name of the one on the left Boaz.
