 Our forefathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking to Moses, that he should make it according to the pattern that he had seen.

 Which our forefathers who came after, brought in with Joshua into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our forefathers, until the days of David;

 Who found favor before God, and desired to find a tabernacle [dwelling] for the God of Jacob.

 But it was Solomon who built him a house.

 However the most High does not dwell in temples made with hands; as said the prophet,

 'Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool; what house will you build for me? says the Lord; or what is the place of my rest?

 Has not my hand made all these things?'

 You stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit; as your forefathers did, so do you.

 Which of the prophets have your forefathers not persecuted? And they have slain those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One; of whom you have now become the betrayers and murderers;

 You who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept [obeyed] it."

 Now when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed their teeth at him.

 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

 And said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God."

 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,

 And cast him out of the city and stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.

 They stoned Stephen, as he called upon God saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."

 And he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice, "Lord, do not lay this sin to their charge." And when he had said this, he fell asleep [died].
