² Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand. The wicked, those still sinning, think to be purified is impossible (who can overcome the beast); so they will continue to sin and none of them will understand. But those who believe in the true gospel will seek to listen to and obey the Lord's voice, they will be tried by fiery ordeals, they will be purified or made white, and they will understand all things.
