|Daniel 7:25 |
25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time [3 1/2 years = 1260 years of time the true Church was driven into the wilderness by the Roman sect]. 2
2The Roman Church speaks great abominations, calling the Pope the Vicar of Christ, declaring who are saints, offering absolution, worshipping statues, praying to dead men and dead women instead of only to God, forbidding marriage, forbidding meats; self-appointed men creating laws, ordinances, rituals, etc. One was this maxim, "That it was an act of virtue to deceive and lie, when, by such means, the interests of the Church might be promoted;" the other was: "That errors in religion, when maintained and adhered to, after proper admonition, were punishable with civil penalties and corporal tortures." The first of these horrible doctrines sanctioned the pious frauds and fictions employed by the clergy to establish their dominion; the second served to cloak their persecuting zeal against those they termed heretics. These many new man-made, abominable laws, supposedly with the authority of God, were issued as Papal Bulls.
And the whore was drunk on the blood of the saints — the Roman church's inquisitions and slaughters throughout Europe, in which during the Middle Ages (800 AD to 1500 AD) nine million souls were put to death, accused of witchcraft. This was followed by the Protestants of England and America who in 50 years were responsible for the deaths of over 869 Quakers in the 17th Century. The persecutors of the Quakers included Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Congregationalists, and Baptists. She boasts she is not a widow and will never see grief. She boasts that Christ is her husband; but she, the whore, only claims his name but ignores his commands to repent, his teachings, his requirements, his warnings, his required holiness, his gospel, his Kingdom, his promised freedom from sin, and his inward cross of self-denial — the Missing Cross to Purity.
Martin Luther, a founder of Protestanism, set the stage for the Nazi persecution of the Jews. Luther advocated setting Jewish synagogues on fire, destroying Jewish prayer books, forbidding rabbis from preaching, seizing Jews' property and money, smashing up their homes, and ensuring that these "poisonous envenomed worms" be forced into labor or expelled "for all time;" he also seemed to sanction their murder, writing: "We are at fault in not slaying them."* The founder of the English Episcopalians, Henry VIII, had 72,000 people killed, mostly Roman Catholics. The Protestants of England and America were responsible for the deaths of over 869 Quakers in the 17th Century. The persecutors of the Quakers included Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Congregationalists, and Baptists. Protestants killed heretics too.
* The Nazi persecution of Jews in Germany began in massive scale on Kristallnacht, (the Night of Broken Glass), in which 200 synagogues were burned; Jewish books were burned; 7500 Jewish businesses storefronts were smashed, (hence the broken glass name); tombstones and graves were uprooted; 30,000 Jews were arrested and taken to concentration camps; at least 100 were immediately murdered; and many homes were looted. A similar pogrom of similar magnitude took place in Vienna, Austria on the same night. These events occurred on November 9-10, 1938: Luther's birthday was November 10. Luther's advice was fulfilled on Kristallnacht to the letter. This was beginning of the Final Solution and The Holacaust.
John Calvin, was another principal founder of Protestantism, having great influence on the Presbyterians, Congregationalists, Baptists, and even Lutherans. Calvin had Servetus arrested, wrote charges of heresy against him, and testified against him at his trial; Servetus' crime was to have denied the scriptural support of the trinity and infant baptism. Calvin's charges and arrest of him resulted in Servetus being burned at the stake. Calvin also had thirty four women burned at the stake as witches accused of being responsible for a plague, while another account credits his theocracy in Geneva with 58 sentences of death. Calvin justified execution of heretics, writing: Whoever shall maintain that wrong is done to heretics and blasphemers in punishing them makes himself an accomplice in their crime and guilty as they are. There is no question here of man's authority; it is God who speaks, and clear it is what law he will have kept in the church, even to the end of the world. Wherefore does he demand of us a so extreme severity, if not to show us that due honor is not paid him, so that we spare not kin, nor blood of any, and forget all humanity when the matter is to combat for His glory. The apologists of Calvin spilling blood and forgetting all humanity point out that many other Protestants killed heretics too — (the everybody-did-it defense; better said is: all the great men of God? then were murderers.)
Jesus said: .. whoever kills you will think and claim that he has offered service to God. John 16:2
Revelation tells us the true church was forced by the devil to flee into the wilderness 1260 days = years; or as above in Daniel 7:25 for a time, times, and a divide of time, which computes to 1260 days also: [3 1/2 Jewish years x 360 days/Jewish year =1260 days (=years)]. A day is counted as a year. So there were 1260 years that the true Church of Christ was forced into the wilderness by the persecutions of the false church, in which Satan rules, and still rules today. Today the beast with horns like a lamb (appearing like Christ, the devil usurping his name) is worshiped by the whole earth; the dragon (Satan) is worshiped by all the world.
George Fox refers to this throughout his writings. The true Church of Christ returned from the wilderness in 1646, the beginning of Fox's incredible ministry, which resulted in thousands entering the kingdom of heaven to be kings and priests to God. The Jewish year had 360 days, so counting backwards, the true church totally disappeared about 403 AD; a few years after Roman Emperor Theodosius I had enacted a law in 380 AD establishing Roman Catholic Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire. The crushing boot of the Empire's sponsored Roman religion was used to persecute and kill the true church. The Roman Empire's church, both east and west, had doctrines, which had been dictated by the sainted Emperors Constantine and Justinian the despot, thus eliminating the true gospel by 403 AD. As prophesied in Revelation, the church committed adultery with the Kings of the earth; it committed adultery with the values of the world, joining with the powers of the world, and losing the Spirit of God.
And while the Roman Church destroyed the true Church of Christ, its Protestant successors were little better. They retained most of the pomp and ceremony, the man-made ceremonies and sacraments, even daring to claim their legal succession through the Popes prior to their separation, and ministers created by colleges rather than by the Holy Spirit. Even the Independents minister's were self-appointed, rather than appointed by the Holy Spirit; thus they spoke the dead letter of quoting scriptures, instead of speaking words supplied at the moment from the Spirit of God. The letter kills, but the Spirit's words give life. And so, the sheep were not fed by the Spirit; instead they were fed by preachers, quoting the letter of scriptures, speaking to their meaning from the imagination of their carnal mind, which is enmity with God.
The Protestant Reformation was a step in the right direction, but fell far short of restoring the church to the practices of the early apostles' Church; the Protestants retained far, far too many of the man-made inventions and heresies of the Roman sect. Infant baptism, grape juice and bread, the trinity, (nowhere mentioned in scriptures), marriage by priests, vain and prideful buildings, steeples with bells, black robes, black shirts, special collars, creeds, reading sermons, sacraments, salvation by ritual, vicars, clerks, parsons, curates, bachelors of art, masters, doctors, fathers, Christmas, Easter, bachelors of divinity, etc.; all are inherited from the mother of the sects, the Roman Catholics.
