|Daniel 3:22-26 |
22 Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flames of the fire killed those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spoke, and said to his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?" They answered and said to the king, "True, O king."
25 He answered and said, "Look, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not harmed; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God1."
26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spoke, and said, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the most high God, come forth, and come here." Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
1 So here is a king who recognizes "the son of God." Yet he was totally ignorant of God, and the concept of a "son of God," other than a man, was foreign to the time. So, perhaps there is an instinct in us all, to recognize "the son of God" when we see Him. Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: (also, the Jews 2000 years ago) and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. Rev 1:7. We will all know him, when we see him. We will recognize our creator.
