1 The king shall not multiply horses for himself. Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, so that his heart does not turn away; neither shall he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself. Solomon obviously ignored these commandments of the Lord and suffered exactly the consequences of his heart being turned away from God. He had many talents of gold and silver. Solomon had 40,000 horse stables for his chariot horses. He had seven hundred wives who were princesses, and three hundred concubines, and his wives turned his heart away from God.
