Display Chapter and Footnotes

 14 The wise man can see where he is going, but the fool walks in darkness; and I also understood that the same event happens to them all. [The wise has his spiritual eye opened to see and walk by the light of God, but the unwise continues to walk in darkness, which is sin.]

 12 To deliver you from the way of the evil man, from the man who speaks perverse things and lies;

 13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; [The upright are pure, walking by the light of God; to walk in darkness is to walk in lust, fulfilling the desires of your flesh and the thoughts of your carnal mind, which is sin. From the Word of the Lord within: "All sin is darkness. The whole world lies in wickedness; the wickedness knows no shame. Darkness mocks the earth; darkness covers the earth."]

 10 Who among you fears the LORD? Who obeys the voice of his servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light, trust in the name of the LORD, and stay [his mind] upon his God.  12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world [every man]. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life."2 [The Light (Christ) is given to every man who comes into the world, John 1:9, so that through the Light, all men might believe, John 1:7; and by abiding in the Light and obeying the Light, receive salvation to become a child of the light, a son of God. To follow Jesus is to obey what He shows and speaks to you by revelation. If you do not keep or obey the words you hear Christ speak to you, those words will be your judge when you die. John 12:47-48. From the Word of the Lord within: "Obedience leads to restoration of life."]

 46 I have come as a light into the world [every man], so that whoever believes [depends on, trusts, obeys] in me should not abide in darkness.6 [The Light (Christ) is given to every man who comes into the world, John 1:9, so that through the Light, all men might believe, John 1:7; and by abiding in the Light and obeying the Light, receive salvation to become a child of the light, a son of God, living and walking in the light instead of darkness : giving thanks to the Father, who has made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.  9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; so that you may show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;3 [From the Word of the Lord within, "all sin is darkness." To come into his marvelous light, you must first have your sinful, selfish spirit destroyed by the grace of God.]

Ephesians 5:8

Display Chapter and Footnotes

 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. [To be in darkness is to still be sinning; to be a child of the light is to have persistently believed in the light and followed the light, who is Christ. To walk in the light is to be guided in what to say and do. All men sit in darkness and walk in darkness until the light arises in their hearts. From the Word of the Lord within: "Walking in the light is to be guided through life by God; walking in darkness is making your own decisions as to what to do and say. Light comes from faith in the voice."]
