|Ecclesiastes 5:2 |
2 Do not be rash with your mouth, and do not let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God. For God is in heaven, and you are upon the earth; therefore let your words be few.2
2 Do not be rash with your mouth, and do not let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God. For God is in heaven, and you are upon the earth; therefore let your words be few. Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10. Be silent, oh all flesh before the Lord. Zech 2:13. Truly my soul silently waits upon God; from him comes my salvation. Psa 62:1. In repentance and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength. Isa 30:15. But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him. Hab 2:20. Pray, but do not babble repetitiously as the heathen do, thinking that by their many words they will be heard. Mat 6:7.
Look at the next verse: a fool's voice is known by multitude of words, when spoken in prayer.
Before you are perfect, your words of prayer are from the carnal mind, which is enmity with God; so we all should practice speaking as little as possible, (humble silence before God), until we are able to pray with words supplied by the Spirit of God. When we have words from the Spirit, we are worshipping in Spirit and Truth; and God must be worshipped in Spirit and Truth.
