Ephesians 5:24,33 Display Chapter and Footnotes   24 Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be submissive to their own husbands in everything.2 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular love his wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she reverences her husband. |
2 as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be submissive to their own husbands in everything. And in verse 33: let the wife see that she reverences her husband. Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as it is fitting in the Lord. Col 3:18. There is no wiggle room in this command; a wife is to submit to, and respect, her husband as she would the Lord, (as if her husband is the Lord). She should defer to her husband's wishes unless it is dangerous, immoral, or of major consequence; obviously if her husband is of another religious persuasion, she should not give up her belief and obedience to the Lord Jesus in favor of his religion.
Let your adorning not merely be an outward with elaborate braiding of hair, and wearing of jewelry or [elegant] apparel; But let it be the inward adorning of the hidden man of the heart, which is incorruptible, highlighted by a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 1 Pet 3:3-4. Let your beauty be the display of a demure spirit that is reserved, chaste, modest, humble, discreet, unassuming, restrained, quiet, unassertive, humble, unpretentious, meek, self-effacing, undemonstrative, sober, tasteful, proper, reasonable, and inconspicuous.
