|Ephesians 3:7-11 |
7 Of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effectual working of his power.
8 This grace is given to me, who is less than the least of all saints, so that I should preach the unsearchable riches of Christ among the Gentiles,
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery,1 which from the beginning of the world has been hidden in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ;
10 To the intent that through the church the manifold [many sided and varied] wisdom of God might be made known to the principalities and powers in heavenly places,
11 According to the eternal purpose that he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 The fellowship of the mystery: Paul in Eph 2: He brought us to life in union and fellowship with Christ, Eph 2:5. John, writing to remote believers: that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3. Paul, writing in Hebrews: But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect. A fellowship in the Spirit with: 1) other mature believers throughout the world, 2) with the Father, 3) with Christ, and 4) the spirits of just men past made perfect. George Fox said the fellowship of the flesh was nothing compared to the fellowship in the Spirit; and urged the believers to not know each other in the flesh, but to know each other in the Spirit. Fellowship in the flesh, socializing with people of the world, and conversation in general should all be avoided.
