Exodus 26

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

"In addition, you shall make the tabernacle with ten curtains; of fine twined linen, and blue and purple, and scarlet threads, with cherubim of skilled embroidery you shall make them.

The length of one curtain shall be twenty eight cubits [42 ft] and its width four [6 ft] cubits. And each of the curtains shall have the same measurements.

Five curtains shall be coupled to one another, and the other five curtains shall be coupled to one another.

You shall make loops of blue fabric on the edge of the end curtain of one set, and likewise you shall make on the outer edge of the second set.

You shall make fifty loops on one curtain, and fifty loops on the end of the last curtain of the second set, so that the loops are opposite one another.

Then you shall make fifty clasps of gold and couple the curtains together with the clasps so that the tabernacle is a unit.

Make curtains of goats' hair to be a tent over the tabernacle; eleven curtains you shall make.

One curtain shall be thirty cubits [45 ft] long and four cubits[6 ft] wide; and the eleven curtains shall all have the same measurements.

And you shall join five curtains together by themselves and six curtains by themselves, and shall double over the sixth curtain in the front of the tabernacle.

Make fifty loops on the edge of the outermost curtain in the first set and fifty loops on the edge of the outmost curtain in the second set.

And you shall make fifty clasps of bronze and put the clasps into the loops and couple the tent together, that it may be one unit.

The remnant that remains of the curtains of the tent, the half curtain that remains, shall hang over the rear of the tabernacle.

And the cubit on one side and the cubit on the other side that remains in the length of the curtains of the tent, shall hang over the sides of the tabernacle to cover it.

Make another covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red, and a covering above of porpoise skins.

Then you shall make upright frames for the tabernacle of boards of shittim wood.

Ten cubits shall be the length of each board and a cubit and a half [2.25 ft] shall be the width of each board.

Two tenons [projections] shall be in each board for fitting one to another; thus shall you make all the boards of the tabernacle.

 Make twenty boards for the south side of the tabernacle;

And make forty sockets of silver to go under the twenty boards, two sockets under each board for its two tenons.

Also for the second side of the tabernacle on the north side there shall be twenty boards,

With their forty sockets of silver, two sockets under each board.

And for the sides of the tabernacle westward you shall make six boards.

Also make two boards for the corners of the tabernacle in the rear on two sides.

They shall be coupled together at the bottom and at the top with one ring. Thus it shall be for both of them; they form the two corners.

So there shall be eight boards and their sockets of silver — sixteen sockets; two sockets under each board.

Also make crossbars of shittim wood: five for the boards of one side of the tabernacle,

And five crossbars for the boards on the other side of the tabernacle, and five crossbars for the boards on the side of the tabernacle, for the two sides westward.

And the middle crossbar in the center of the boards shall pass through from end to end.

Overlay the boards with gold and make their rings of gold to hold the crossbars. And you shall also overlay the crossbars with gold.

Then you shall erect the tabernacle according to the plan that was shown you on the mountain.

Make a veil of blue and purple, and scarlet cloth and fine twined linen of skillful work with cherubim on it.

You shall hang it on four pillars of shittim wood overlaid with gold, with hooks of gold, on the four sockets of silver.

And you shall hang the veil from the clasps, so that you may bring the ark of the Testimony within the veil; and the veil shall divide between the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place.

You shall put the mercy seat on the ark of the Testimony in the Most Holy Place.

And you shall set the table outside the veil, and the candlestick opposite the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south, and you shall put the table on the north side.

You shall make a hanging for the door of the tent, of blue and purple, and scarlet cloth and fine twined linen, embroidered with needlework.

And you shall make five pillars of shittim wood for the hanging curtain, and overlay them with gold; their hooks shall be of gold, and you shall cast five sockets of bronze for them.
