Ezekiel 42

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

Then he brought me into the outer court, toward the north, and he brought me to the chambers that were opposite the separating courtyard and the building toward the north.

Along the side which was a hundred cubits long was the north door, and the width was fifty cubits.

Opposite the inner court of twenty cubits, and opposite the pavement which was for the outer court, were galleries facing galleries at the three stories.

And in front of the chambers was an inner walk ten cubits wide and a hundred cubits long, and their doors were on the north.

Now the upper chambers were narrower, for the galleries took more space from these than from those on the lower and middle of the building.

For they were three stories high, but the upper floors did not have pillars like the pillars of the court; therefore the upper chambers were narrower than the lower and the middle floors.

And the outside wall that was opposite and parallel to the chambers, toward the outer court in front of the chambers, was fifty cubits long.

For the length of the chambers that were in the outer court was fifty cubits, and those facing the temple were a hundred cubits.

And under these chambers was the entry on the east side, as one goes into them from the outer court.

The chambers were in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, opposite the separating courtyard and the building.

And the walk in front of them was like the chambers which were toward the north, as long and as wide as they, and all their exits were similar to them in their arrangement and doors.

And like the doors of the chambers that were toward the south, there was a door at the head of the walk, the walk directly in front of the wall toward the east, as one enters them.

Then he said to me, "The north chambers and the south chambers, which are opposite the separating courtyard, they are holy chambers where the priests who approach the LORD shall eat the most holy offerings; there they shall lay the most holy things — the grain offering, the sin offering, and the trespass offering — for the place is holy.

When the priests enter it, then they shall not go out of the holy place into the outer court unless they lay aside their garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They shall put on other garments before they approach those things which are for the people."

Now when he had finished measuring the inner house, he brought me forth toward the gate which is toward the east and measured all around it.

He measured the east side with the measuring rod, it was five hundred cubits by the measuring rod.

He measured the north side, it was five hundred cubits by the measuring rod.

He measured the south side, it was five hundred cubits by the measuring rod.

He turned about to the west side, and measured five hundred cubits by the measuring rod.

He measured it on the four sides; it had a wall around it of five hundred cubits long and five hundred wide, to make a separation between the holy area and the common place.
