Ezekiel 39

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

"Therefore, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.

 And I will turn you around and lead you along, and will cause you to come up from the far north and will bring you against the mountains of Israel;

And I will strike your bow out of your left hand and will cause your arrows to fall out of your right hand.

You shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the people who are with you. I will give you to the ravenous birds of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.

You shall fall upon the open field, for I have spoken it, says the Lord GOD.'

And I will send a fire on Magog and among those who dwell carelessly in the isles, and they shall know that I am the LORD.

So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will not let them defile my holy name any more; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.

Behold, it is coming, and it will be done, says the Lord GOD; this is the day of which I have spoken.

Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go forth and will set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, the war clubs and the spears; they will burn them as fuel for seven years,

So that they will not need to take firewood out of the field or cut down any out of the forests, for they will make fire with the weapons. And they will plunder those who plundered them, and rob those who robbed them, says the Lord GOD.

And it will come to pass in that day that I will give to Gog a burial place in Israel, in the valley of those who travel on the east of the sea, and it will block the travelers because they will bury Gog and all his multitude there, and they will call it The valley of Hamongog.

And for seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, so that they may cleanse the land.

Yes, all the people of the land will bury them, and it will bring them renown on the day that I will be glorified, says the Lord GOD.

And they will set apart men for continual employment, who with the help of travelers, will pass through the land to bury those who remain on the face of the earth, in order to cleanse it. And at the end of seven months they will make a search.

And they will pass through the land and when anyone sees a man's bone, he will set up a marker by it, until the burriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.

And the name of the city will be Hamonah. Thus they shall cleanse the land.

And you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD: 'Speak to every feathered fowl and to every beast of the field: Assemble yourselves and come, gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I am preparing for you, the great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel. There you may eat flesh and drink blood.

You shall eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.

And you shall eat fat until you are full and drink blood until you are drunken, at my sacrifice which I have prepared for you.

Thus you shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men and all kinds of soldiers,' says the Lord GOD.

And I will show my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed and my hand that I have laid upon them.

So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day forward.

And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity, because they trespassed against me; therefore I hid my face from them and gave them into the hand of their enemies, so they all fell by the sword.

According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I have dealt with them, and hid my face from them.

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Now I will bring Jacob back from captivity and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel and will be jealous for my holy name.

They will forget their shame and all their trespasses in which they have trespassed against me when they dwell safely in their land and no one makes them afraid.

When I have brought them again from the people and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am set apart as holy in them in the sight of many nations,

Then they shall know that I am the LORD their God, who caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen, but will gathered them to their own land, and leave none of them captive any longer.

Neither will I hide my face from them anymore, when I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel," says the Lord GOD.
