Genesis 10:9-10

Display Chapter and Footnotes

9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD. Therefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. [Nimrod was not a man of God. He did not follow the Lord's directions. Instead he was running ahead of the Lord, following his own will. He is the example to be avoided if you ever want to serve God, which requires you to hear what to say before saying it. From the Word of the Lord within: "The godly wait for my instructions for many things shall I come want done. I was surely sent; as I was sent, so too must you be. You do as God has directed and only that; we do as He tells us. Speak only what you are told to speak."]

10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
