Genesis 7 Previous Chapter | Next Chapter 1 And the LORD said to Noah, "Come into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen you to be righteous before me in this generation. 2 Of every clean beast you shall take with you seven pairs, the male and his female, and two each of beasts that are not clean, the male and his female. 3 You shall also take with you seven pairs of birds, the male and the female, to keep their kind alive upon the face of all the earth. 4 For in seven days I will cause it to rain upon the earth for forty days and forty nights, and every living thing that I have made I will destroy from the face of the earth." 5 And Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him. 6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters were upon the earth. 7 So Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. 8 Pairs of clean and unclean beasts, and birds and everything that creeps upon the earth, 9 Went in two by two to Noah in the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah. 10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood came upon the earth. 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, that same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was upon the earth for forty days and forty nights. 13 On the very same day Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered into the ark, 14 They and every beast according to its kind, and all the livestock according to their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings. 15 And they went into the ark to Noah, two by two of all flesh in which is the breath of life. 16 And those who went in, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the LORD shut him in. 17 For forty days the flood was upon the earth; and the waters increased and bore up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth. 18 And the waters prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the waters. 19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth, so that all the high mountains that were under the whole heaven were covered. 20 The waters prevail and the mountains were covered more than twenty feet. 21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of bird and livestock, of beast and every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth, and every man. 22 All of those on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died. 23 Every living thing that was upon the face of the ground was destroyed; both man and livestock, the creeping things, and the birds of the heavens; they were all destroyed from the earth. Only Noah remained alive, and those who were with him in the ark. 24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days. Previous Chapter | Next Chapter |
