|Hebrews 12:10-11 |
10 For truly for a short time they chastened us according to their best judgment; but God chastens [rebukes and disciplines us] for our benefit, to enjoy a share in his holiness.6
11 Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous; nevertheless afterwards it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who are tried by it.
6 To enjoy a share in his holiness. More of the true hope. That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. Luke 1:74-75. For by one offering he has totally cleansed an perfected forever those who are sanctified and made holy. Heb 10:14. But now being made free from sin, and having become slaves to God, you have the reward of holiness, and at the end, everlasting life. Rom 6:22.
