Hosea 14

Previous Chapter

O Israel, return to the LORD your God for you have fallen through your iniquity.

Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to him, "Take away all our iniquity and receive us graciously; so we may offer [like bullocks were to be sacrificed] the sacrifice of our lips.

Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses, neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, 'You are our gods.' For in you, the fatherless finds mercy."

"I will heal their backsliding; I will love them freely, for my anger is turned away from them.

I will be like the dew to Israel; he shall grow like the lily and send out his roots like a cedar of Lebanon.

His branches shall spread, his beauty shall be like the olive tree, and his smell like Lebanon.

Those who dwell under his shadow, will return; they shall revive like the grain and blossom like the vine, the scent of which shall be like the wine of Lebanon.

Ephraim shall say, 'What more do I have to do with idols?' I shall answer him and watch over him. I am like a green fir tree; with me is your fruit found."

Who is wise, that he shall understand these things? Prudent, that he shall know them? For the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them, but the transgressors shall fall in them.
