4 Fury is not in me. Would that [internal] briers and thorns were set against me in battle. I would go through them, I would burn them together.
20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!2
21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
23 Who justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
24 Therefore as the fire devours the stubble, and the flame consumes the chaff, so their root shall be like rottenness, and their blossom shall go up like dust because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.3
25 Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he has stretched forth his hand against them, and has smitten them; and the hills trembled, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
24 Therefore says the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel: "Ah, I will ease myself of my adversaries and avenge myself of my enemies.
25 And I will turn my hand upon you, and purely purge away your dross, and take away all your tin.
|Jeremiah 6:27-30 |
27 I have set you [Jeremiah] for a tower and a fortress among my people, that you may know and try their way.
28 They are all grievous rebels, walking with slanders. They are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.
29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the metal smith melts in vain for the wicked are not plucked away.
30 Men shall call them reprobate silver because the LORD has rejected them."
