| Isaiah 2 Previous Chapter | Next Chapter 1 This is the word that Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem: 2 "And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. 3 And many people shall go and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.1 5 O house of Jacob, come and let us walk in the light of the LORD. [From the Word of the Lord within: "Walking in the light is to be guided through life by God; walking in darkness is making your own decisions as to what to do and say. Light comes from faith in the voice. I am the light of the world; he who follows me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life." Faith in the voice is evidenced by your obedience to what you hear; to follow is to obey what you hear the Lord speak to you as you wait on Him.] 6 Therefore you have forsaken your people the house of Jacob, because they are filled with eastern ways, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they make agreements with children of aliens. 7 Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots. 8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, what their own fingers have made. 9 To them, the poor man bows down, and the great man humbles himself; therefore do not forgive them. 10 Enter into the rock, and hide yourself in the dust, from the terror of the LORD and from the glory of his majesty. 11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. 12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon everyone who is proud and lofty, and upon everyone who is lifted up; all shall be brought low. 13 Upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan, 14 Upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up, 15 Upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall, 16 Upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all beautiful images. 17 The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, the haughtiness of men shall be made low; the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. 18 He shall utterly abolish the idols. 19 They shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth terribly. 20 In that day men shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they each made for themselves to worship; they shall cast them to the moles and to the bats, 21 As they flee into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth terribly. 22 Cease trusting in any man, whose breath is in his nostrils, for of what value is he?" 1 Notice, an almost the word-for-word prophecy of Micah 4:1-3:
While this prophecy has been fulfilled spiritually, it has not been fulfilled physically. Considering all the other prophets statements, it will be fulfilled physically. One day, the Lord will rule the world through his saints; but He will not be here physically. He will rule through those saints whose thoughts, words, deeds, and power come from Him alone. Before he rules, he will eliminate all the people who do not listen to and obey his voice.
