Jeremiah 45

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

1 This is the word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,

2 Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to you, O Baruch:

3 "You said, 'Woe is me now! for the LORD has added grief to my sorrow; I have fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.'"

4 Thus shall you say to him, The LORD said thus: 'Behold, what I have built, I will break down; and what I have planted, I will pluck up, even this whole land.

5 And you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them because I will bring evil upon all flesh,' says the Lord; 'but I will spare your life in all places where you go as a reward.'"
