John 10:11,15

Display Chapter and Footnotes

11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. [To be one of His sheep, you must belong to Him, be free from all sin, and be in union with Him. From the Word of the Lord within: "If you are still sinning, you belong to sin and not to Me. Listen to and obey my voice; listen to my sweet words of wisdom. If you pay attention and obey, it results in union with God. He joins with our cleansed nature. We must become like Him to merge with Him."]

15 Just like the Father knows me, and I know the Father — and I lay down my life for the sheep. [Jesus and the Father know each other deeply because Jesus is one with the Father; the Father is in Him and He is in the Father. For Jesus and His sheep to know each other just like the Father and He know each other, His sheep are in Jesus and He is in His sheep, they are one, in union. Crucified believers are in union with and one with Christ and the Father too, as John 17:20-23, 14:20 state. From the Word of the Lord within: "Salvation occurs when you are one with Christ and God. Do you know him or just pretend to know him; to know him is to have met him and listened to him? Seek the meeting." Union results from the meeting. ]
