|John 13:1-7 |
Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father. And having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the last of his time.
And after supper had ended, the devil having entered into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray Jesus.
Jesus, knew that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God, and was returning to God.
So he rose from supper and laid aside his garments; and he took a towel, and wrapped it around himself.
And after that he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, wiping them with the towel that was around his waist.
Then he came to Simon Peter, and Peter said to him, "Lord, are you to wash my feet?"
And Jesus answered him, "What I am doing, you don't now understand; but you will understand later."
