John 16:8

Display Chapter and Footnotes

8 And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong [reprove all men] concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment.1 [Every man has his day of visitation from the Holy Spirit, when he hears the Lord's quiet and anonymous reproofs. Those, who do not believe Him, (his words of reproof), remain in condemnation. But if a man heeds His reproofs, the Lord pours his Spirit and words on him, Pro 20:23,33; teaching a man how to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; to then finally judge a man, gathering his wheat, (his works of love, energized and motivated by operational faith), into the barn and burning up the chaff (works of sin) with unquenchable fire the Holy Spirit's baptism of death to the selfish spirit of Satan in a man.]

12 For the word of God is quick [living], and powerful [active], and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner and judge of the thoughts and intents of the heart.4 [Paul is describing the power that works in a man to bring him to the rest; which power is the Word of God, Jesus, the power of God. In the beginning was the word, and the word was god. John 1:1. And he was clothed with a garment dipped in blood; and his name is called The Word of God...And he has on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Rev 19:13,16. I am he who searches the minds and the hearts. Jer 17:10, Rev 2:23. And he had in his right hand seven stars; and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword; and his countenance was as the sun shines in his strength. Rev 1:16. Jesus, the word of God is alive and lasts forever. 1 Peter 1:23]

19 Because what may be known of God is revealed in them; for God has shown it to them.3 [Revelations come not from reading about God, nor from hearing someone talk about God, for God is only known by revelation in your heart, where you hear him and see His teachings about sin, righteousness, and Himself.

From the Word of the Lord within: "Turn inward to discover the mysteries."

George Fox wrote: "The Father is in you all, Christ is in you, and the Kingdom of Heaven is in you; there, in your hearts, is where you will find them all. Know him there searching your hearts, and find him there trying your minds and hearts; incline your ears, and give ear to him there, who will render to everyone of you according to your words and works whether they are good or evil,"]
