10 He was in the world, and the world had been made by him, and the world did not know him.
11 He came to his own, and his own did not receive him.6
|Matthew 27:39-44,26:38 |
40 And saying, "You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself. If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross." [When Jesus made that statement, the "temple" was referring to His body.]
41 Likewise also the chief priests, scribes, and elders mocked him, saying,
42 "He saved others, but he cannot save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
43 He trusted in God, let him deliver him now if he will have him; for he said, 'I am the Son of God.'"
44 And the thieves who were crucified with him, derided Jesus the same way.
38 Then he said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, almost to death; stay here and watch with me." [Jesus wanted them to sit and watch inwardly for further instructions from God; to wait and watch is prayer. Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoever finds me, finds life; and he shall obtain favor of the LORD. Pro 8:34-35. Watching is part of waiting on God's revelations which can be words spoken or revealings by His light.]
