|John 6:31-35 |
Our fathers ate manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat."
Then Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the Bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true Bread from heaven.
For the Bread of God is He who comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world.
Then said they to him, "Lord, give us this bread always and for all time."
And Jesus said to them, "I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to me shall never hunger; and he who believes in me shall never thirst. [Jesus is the bread of life: the life of God, the Holy Spirit, the anointing. His words that you hear him speak to you impart the life of God to your heart. To acquire more of the Holy Spirit, more truth, more life, more of Jesus, you must sit in humble silence, wait on Him, listen, hear, and obey. It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life-giving. John 6:63. Come— not to sect services, not to prayer meetings, not to altar calls, and not Bible study; Jesus even said that studying the scriptures is not coming to Him. John 5:39-40. We must come directly to him, by sitting in humble silence as we wait on Him, listening for his voiced commands and teachings. To believe in Jesus is to believe what you hear him speak to you and then to obey it.]
