John 7:28-30,8:55

Display Chapter and Footnotes

28 Then Jesus cried out in the temple as he taught, saying, "You both know me, and you know where I am from. I have not come by own authority, but he who has sent me is true, and you do not know him.

29 But I know him; for I am from him, and he has sent me."

30 Then they sought to take him; but no man laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come. [No one touched Jesus because all things (including people) works together for good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose; the Father controls everything around those whom he loves and has called. The time of Jesus' death was planned by the Father and had not yet arrived, so Jesus walked right through them without them touching him.]

55 Yet you have not known him. But I know him; and if I should say, that I do not know him then I would be a liar like you. But I know him, and keep [obey] his teachings [and commands].
