| John 8 Previous Chapter | Next Chapter 1 Then Jesus went to the mount of Olives. 2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down and taught them. 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought a woman taken in adultery to him; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They said to him, "Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us that such should be stoned; but what do you say?" 6 They said this to tempt him, so that they might have a reason to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground. 7 And when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. " 8 Then again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And those who heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even to the last; and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had stood up, and saw no one but the woman, he said to her, "Woman, where are your accusers? Has no man condemned you?" 11 And she said, "No man, Lord." And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more."1 [Now many people cannot believe that Jesus meant "perfect" when he said, Be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect, Mat 5:48; but isn't Jesus saying the same thing when he says, sin no more?] 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world [every man]. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life."2 [The Light (Christ) is given to every man who comes into the world, John 1:9, so that through the Light, all men might believe, John 1:7; and by abiding in the Light and obeying the Light, receive salvation to become a child of the light, a son of God. To follow Jesus is to obey what He anonymously shows and speaks to you by revelation. If you do not keep or obey the words you hear Christ speak to you, those words will be your judge when you die. John 12:47-48. From the Word of the Lord within: "Obedience leads to restoration of life."] 13 The Pharisees therefore said to him, "You testify of yourself; your testimony is not valid." 14 Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Though I testify of myself, yet my testimony is true; for I know where I have come from, and where I am going; but you cannot perceive where I have come from, and where I am going. 15 You judge according to the flesh; I do not judge any man. 16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true; for I am not alone, but the Father, who sent me, is with me. 17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am one who testifies of myself, and the Father, who sent me, also testifies for me." 19 Then they said to him, "Where is your Father? And Jesus answered, "You neither know me, nor my Father. If you knew me, you would also know my Father." 20 Jesus spoke these words in the treasury as he taught in the temple; and no man arrested him, for his hour [of arrest and trial] had not yet come. 21 Then Jesus said to them again, "I am going away, and you will seek me, but you will die in your sins; and where I am going, you are not able to come."3 22 Then the Jews said, "Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, 'Where I go, you cannot come.'" 23 And he said to them, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 Therefore I said to you, that you will die in your sins; because if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins." [If in the day of your visitation you do not believe the word and light in your heart that reasons with you to do good, you will continue in evil and die in your sins.] 25 Then they said to him, "Who are you?" And Jesus said to them, "Even the same that I said to you from the beginning. 26 I have many things to say and to judge about you; but he who sent me is true, and I speak to the world only those things that I have heard from him." 27 They did not understand that he spoke to them about the [judgment of his] Father. 28 Then Jesus said to them, "When you have lifted up the Son of man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but I speak the things that my Father has taught me. 29 He who sent me is with me. The Father has not left me alone, for I always do those things that please him." 30 As he spoke these words, many believed on him. 31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you continue in my word [not the Bible, but teachings and commands heard from Jesus speaking directly to you], then you are truly my disciples; [If you continue to wait, watch, and listen to Jesus, who is the word and light within your heart, you are a true disciple, who will produce the fruit of the Spirit, who will be guided into all truth, and then who will have become free of all sin.] 32 And [then] you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."4 [You will only know the truth to become free "If you continue in my word," as verse 31 above states; the way is to continue in His word, which word is not the Bible but the word that is in your heart and mouth to obey. The truth is in the life of God, (who is Jesus), which life is light, which light is the anointing, which is truth. Jesus is the life and the truth, and when you fully possess Him, (the word, the anointing, the light, the life, the truth), He will set you free from the bondage of sin so that sin no longer controls you and is not even desirable; instead you will be guided by God with every word to speak and every deed to be done — that is being free, free from the bondage and slavery to sin.] 33 But they answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and we have never been in bondage to any man. How can say you that we will be made free?" 34 Then Jesus answered them, "Truly, Truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.5 [If you are still sinning, sin is your master, and the Lord cannot be your Lord or Master because as the Lord said, you cannot serve two masters. From the Word of the Lord within: "If you are still sinning, you belong to sin and not to Me. Those who belong to Christ are through with sin. Remember, every person who sins, denies Him as Lord and Master." Your challenge is to be set free from sin by Him, thus to be a slave to righteousness instead, only speaking the words you hear Him tell you to speak immediately before speaking and only doing what He orders you to do. Don't fool yourself to think you are not sinning; for until you are guided by the light of the Lord in every word to speak and every deed to be done, you are walking in the ways of the world, according to the prince of the power of the air, (Satan), in the lusts of the flesh, fulfilling the desires of your flesh and the thoughts of your mind; and that is walking in darkness, which is sin. Until your imagination and carnal mind have been destroyed by the Lord and replaced with the mind of Christ, you are still sinning.] 35 A slave does not remain in the house forever, but the Son remains forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you are truly free.6 37 I know that you are Abraham's descendants; but you seek to kill me, because my word [teachings heard] has no place in you. 38 I speak what I have seen in the presence of my Father, and you do what you have learned from your father the devil. 39 Then they answered him, "Abraham is our father." But Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works [of obedience in faith] of Abraham. 40 But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I have heard from God; this was not the way of Abraham. 41 You do the deeds of your father." Then said they to him, "We were not born illegitimate; we have one Father, even God." 42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me; for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither have I come of my own will, but God sent me. 43 Why do you not understand my speech? Because you cannot hear [with the ears of your soul] my word [spoken from the Spirit of God]. 44 You are of your father the devil, and you follow and yield to the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not remain in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own; for he is a liar, and the father of all lies. [Every man's spirit is the offspring of Satan; and until that spirit is slain by the Lord, and the Lord rules in that man's heart, he is of his father the devil. The Lord only rules a purified heart and soul. In his Journal George Fox wrote that God did not even create the devil: "I had come into the power of God, the seed Christ, which was before the devil was, and bruises his head; and he became a devil by going out of truth; and so became a murderer and a destroyer. So I showed them, that God did not make him a devil; for God is a God of truth, and made all things good, and blessed them; but God did not bless the devil. And the devil is bad and was a liar and a murderer from the beginning, and spoke from himself, and not from God."] 45 And because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Who among you can convict me of sin? And if I speak the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 He who is of God, hears God's words. You cannot hear his words because you are not of God."7 [My sheep hear my voice. Everyone of the truth hears my voice. John 10:27,18:37] 48 Then the Jews answered and said to him, "Are we not right when we say you are a Samaritan and have a demon?" 49 Jesus answered, "I do not have a demon; but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. 50 I do not seek my own glory, but there is one who seeks it and judges. 51 Truly, truly, I say to you, If a man obeys my teachings [and commands], he shall never see death. 52 Then the Jews said to him, "Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham is dead, and so are the prophets; and you say, "If a man keeps [obeys] my teachings [and commands], he shall never taste of death." 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets who are dead. Who do you think you are? 54 Jesus answered, "If I honor myself, my honor is nothing. It is my Father who honors me; of whom you say, that he is your God. 55 Yet you have not known him. But I know him; and if I should say, that I do not know him then I would be a liar like you. But I know him, and keep [obey] his teachings [and commands]. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced in hope to see my day; and he saw it, and was glad." 57 Then the Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?" 58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."8 The verb used by Jesus in his statement, "I am," is timeless, not past, not future, just present before Abraham ever came into existence, which supports the timeless existence of being with the Father in the beginning, (John 1:1-2,Proverbs 8:22-30). 59 Then they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus faded into the midst of the crowd and went out of the temple. 1sin no more for fear that something worse may happen to you. Everyone talks about how Jesus is so forgiving; true, but after forgiveness he says, sin no more!
To the adulteress: Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more. John 8:11
To one healed: Behold, you are made whole; sin no more for fear that something worse may happen to you. John 5:14
The something worse that may happen to you is called Hell.
Christendom doesn't have a clue how to be freed from sin, and pretends it is impossible. Christendom has forgotten the only way — the inward cross of self-denial.
But Jesus said: Sin no more! and Repent or perish! [and lose you soul].

2 I am the light of the world [every man]. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life.
I am the light of the world [every man].
The Greek for this verse shows that what has been universally translated as "the world" kosmos <2889> could just as well have been translated as: the inhabitants of the earth, or men, or the human family. John 1:4 says, "In him was life; and the life was the light of men;" and John 1:9 says, "Which is the true Light that enlightens every man who comes into the world;" which light was given to men so that they might believe. John 1:7. Believe what?—the truth. What truth?— believe the truth of what the light shows them about the evil of their ways and the truth of how God's and Jesus' righteousness is vastly different than their own ways; and then to believe the promises of God, making them the hope of their life's efforts to attain salvation.
He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life.
The promise for following Jesus is to come out of darkness, to walk in the light, to have the light of life; this is to be restored to the life of God, exactly the life that Adam and Eve lost in the garden; as God had told them they would surely die, and die they did to the life of God, as they then lived in the life of Satan. But here is the glorious promise fulfilled, that God would restore man again to the life of God — and here is our opportunity, by belief in the Light, which enlightens all men, by obedience to that light, we can become children of the Light, restored to the light of life, the life of God, restored to the spiritual image of God. We follow Jesus by obeying his commands that we hear him speak to us as we expose ourselves to hearing those commands by waiting on God. When we obey what commands we hear him speak to us, then we are following his orders, we are following Jesus as he leads us to kill our sinful nature on the inward cross of self-denial.
Fallen man is in spiritual darkness, sitting in darkness, walking in darkness. He cannot see through the eyes of God, which is to see by the light of God. In darkness, we stumble, we grope, we guess what is good and what is bad. The best we can do is choose the least evil alternative, and each of us sees and chooses differently, based on our conditioned experiences. When we are restored to the light of life by Jesus, we see by His light, we walk by His spirit, we are prompted by His thoughts, His words for us to speak, His deeds for us to perform. In all situations, we see perfectly, the exact virtuous deed to be done, we hear the perfect virtuous word to be said — we are united with God's spirit, and He supplies the direction and energy to do his will. The kingdom of God within us is entered in our consciousness; we are in his presence continually, beholding his glory in the face of Jesus Christ. His promptings are received with obedient joy; His will is done, on earth as it is in heaven. We walk in glorious service to God enjoying holiness while on earth. Jesus Christ is then, and only then, our true Lord, whom we continuously serve, whom we continuously obey, whom we continuously praise, whom we continuously worship; this is to have the light of life. From the Word of the Lord within: "I am the light of the world; whoever continues to feed on me shall have the light of life." But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; so that you may show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Pet 2:9
We must labor to follow Jesus in order to come out of darkness and receive the life of God more abundantly [in a superior form], which He produces in our heart, which life is the light, which light in sufficient measure is the anointing, which is truth and is no lie — the inward truth. Then we have the truth; then we know all things. Then we have come out of darkness to walk in the light with the anointing's (the Christ's) guidance in our words to speak and our works to be performed, which commanded works are done to His glory and our joy, knowing that everything we say and do is perfect and virtuous.
3 I am going away, and you will seek me, but you will die in your sins, and where I am going you are not able to come.
I am going away, and you will seek me. God, speaking through Jesus on the earth, is going to leave the earth. The Jews could care less that Jesus goes away; they would be happy to have Jesus disappear from their lives. However the Jews continued to seek God, who had been speaking through Jesus. The Jews continued to seek God by listening to their priest read the scriptures every 7th day, they continued to pray to God, they continued to tithe, and they continued to observe food and drink restrictions, etc.
but you will die in your sins, and where I am going you are not able to come. The Jews, seeking God in their old ways, instead of finding God, died in their sins, and they were unable to go to the Kingdom of God, (because they were still slaves to sin, still sinning). Notice! Jesus has plainly stated that if one dies in their sins, (still sinning), they will not be able to enter the kingdom of God. Why? Because if you die still sinning, you would be absolutely miserable in heaven; all your pleasures and desires, having not been crucified while on earth, are not available in heaven, and you would be miserable without them. You would be yearning for the old wine, which you think is better than the new wine because you have not been prepared, crucified, purified, (the new wineskin), and freed from lusts, anger, sexual desires, resentment, envy, greed, lying, jealousy, foolishness, revelry, drunkenness, pleasures, pride, etc. Even your thoughts would be heard by everyone around you; you would be terrified and wanting to run to darkness where you hope your thoughts would not be heard by everyone.
Jesus is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners. Heb 7:26
Gentle reader, do not despair; God takes no pleasure in anyone dying in their sins. Jesus came to the earth to make it possible for every man to be freed from sin and to enter the Kingdom of God, beginning while on earth. He came to set us free from sin as the next footnote details.
4 And [then] you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Free from what? Free from the slavery of sin. The truth frees us from sin. And Jesus, who is the anointing, the life, the light, and the truth, makes us free from sin. Freedom from sin: For this purpose the Son of God is revealed [in us], that he might destroy [in us] the works [sin] of the devil. 1 John 3:8. How? Jesus said to those who believed on him, "If you continue in [obedience to] my word [teachings and commands heard], then you are truly my disciples. John 8:31. What word? The word is very near unto you, in your mouth, and in your heart, so that you may obey it. Deu 30:14. How do you receive the word? Be quite and listen, daily. No amount of Bible study can substitute for waiting, watching, and listening for the Word of the Lord within to be heard and obeyed; the Jews had the scriptures, yet they ignored the many commands within the scriptures that severely warned them about not listening to the voice of the Lord.
5 Then Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin." John 8:34. A slave to sin is someone whose master and Lord is sin. If you are still sinning, Jesus is not your Lord, and you do not belong to Him. Whoever is born of God does not commit sin, for his seed [Christ] remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:9 So if you are still sinning, you have not been born of God. Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves slaves to obey, you are the slaves of whom you obey; whether of sin to that leads to death, or of obedience that leads to righteousness? Rom 6:16. From the Word of the Lord within: "If you are still sinning, you belong to sin and not to Me. Those who belong to Christ are through with sin. 6 if the Son makes you free, you are truly free. Jesus has repeated himself for emphasis. He can really make you free from sin. But you must believe it to be possible for the power to be released. In addition to the scriptures that scream this message of hope, this web site has the testimony of over 20 men and women who experienced this freedom from sin and then entry to the Kingdom of Heaven.
7 He who is of God, hears God's words. You cannot hear his words because you are not of God. Many people think that this applies to the Jews only, thinking them to be some kind of particularly evil persons. But this applies to all men of all nations; because, until a man has been taught by the Spirit of God, he cannot recognize someone speaking the words and ideas as coming from the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God has to slowly teach a man spiritual things, changing his outlook on life, discovering the truth. But the natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness to him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor 2:14. Until the Spirit of God shows a man his sins, the natural man is even unaware of the depth of his slavery to sin; this is the basic function of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter: when he comes, he will prove the world wrong [reprove all men] concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment. John 16:8. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. John 16:13
8 Jesus said: Before Abraham was, I AM. Sadly most of Christendom is unaware that Jesus created the heavens and the earth, before he came to the earth as a man.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word [Jesus] was with God, and the Word was god. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and there was nothing made without him. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. He was in the world, and the world had been made by him, and the world did not know him. John 1:1-4,10-11
Who [Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. Colossians 1:15
The children of Israel, were all baptized into Moses, in the cloud and in the sea; and all ate the same spiritual food; and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 1 Cor 10:2-4. And this was long before Christ came in the flesh; Christ was and is the Rock of Ages, and the foundation of many generations, both before and after his coming in the flesh.
